In another thread started by A., Allisa & A. were discussing how their kids seem more "on" when they are under the weather. Both CC & I chimed in that our boys are the same way.
Well, to prove that it's true - here's another example. Yesterday morning Jason had a rough time going to the bathroom, which he never has problems with. A short time after that he decides to sweep up the kitchen floor - which he has NEVER done before. I told Brian about the previous thread and said although I hope he's not getting sick it will be interesting to see what happens over the next day or so. It would be nice if it was just an "on" day for him. Sure enough, last night he had the runs and this morning he vomitted. Stomach flu. Nice.
This also happened last year when he was diagnosed with walking pneumonia - the previous day he voluntarily grabbed the vacuum cleaner and vacuumed throughout the house, among other things that we were very surprised that he took the initiative to do.
So, here's my question. In the other thread, I think both A. & Allisa were concluding that it was more likely to do with Russell & Erin's Autism rather than Ds. Hopefully, I'm not putting words into your mouths!! LOL The question is, why would you think it would be Autism related and not Ds related? Maybe it doesn't really matter either way? Seems when some of our kids are sick, it's like something in the brain is suppressed and they can focus a little better.
Has this ever been discussed on Dr. Leshin's website by any chance?? Or has anyone else had this observation and discussed it with their child's ped or specialist?
