Routine procedure under anesthesia...... but pressure in the left eye (eye with Glaucoma) was 30... which in the doctor's opinion wasn't THAT high.. but to this mom, that's high.. because it's never been 30 before. So, they did laser surgery on the eye again, of course...
And then he said we need to be back in the hospital for another eye procedure and possible laser again in 3-4 months so we are set up for having our next one in August. I guess they usually do the laser through the outside (white of eye) and this next time if the pressures are still up in the left eye, they will make an incision and do it from the inside of the eye...... can you say EW!? LOL
I realized recently that eye procedures are "typical" for us and routine....and I have lost count! LOL 11 years of this does that to ya!
A.

You sound so calm, A - EW is all you have to say about an incision in Russell's eye. You have nerves of steel, woman

Hmm, sorry that this is still an issue but glad the doctor is keeping on top of it. No. I don't get used to eye procedures. Still bothersome. Charlie was at his ped ophthalmologist last Thursday for just a quick pressure check. Combination of Trusopt twice a day and Xalatan at bedtime still seems to be working well. IOP in bad left eye was 15. I like 15. 15 is a very good number. We'll go back for a more complete checkup in 4 months. Charlie's funny. Doesn't protest much to whatever we do to his bad left eye but doesn't like anybody messing with his better right eye. Dr. tried to get IOP's in both, left first, then right. So, when I brought Charlie back to the waiting area, he was not a happy camper, fussing and crying. Receptionist noticed that little brother Robert went over and took Charlie's face in his hands and appeared to be trying to console him. She asked if he was always like that. I said, yeah, sure, when they're not fighting like cats and dogs, though it's usually Charlie who's pushing Robert away. But Robert often is all too interested in Charlie's eye, would like to check it out himself. Doctor said, have a good day, come back in four months, and don't forget to take Robert with you when you leave. I said, are you sure? He'd be glad to stay all day and help you out. So, A., want us to send Robert your way for a visit, maybe couple of weeks? -- Bob

Yes, Bob, I'd prefer 15 in Russell's bad left eye also... funny both our boys have "bad left eyes".... comforting?? And yes, Chris, when they doled out nerves and nueroticism they gave it all to my mom and sis.... (and I say that in the most loving way LOL) I think God knew I needed to be the calm, pragmatic one..... Besides... after 11 years you either embrace this is a way of life and will be for the rest of Russell's life or you get an ulcer... I prefer no ulcers A.

Poor Russell! How does he do with these procedures?
Honestly, I have a really hard time reading your and Bob's posts about the boys' eye issues. I can't even stand to put eye drops in, let alone talk about about a knife near an eye! Ugh. LOL

Hey A.
