Its coming, this Monday.
The last checkup, he had little red discolorations on his face. For those who remember the bathtub episode, that is what the doctor was thinking the problem was. (John was in the tub and his face was under water for a split second.) Doc said he could have been deprived of oxygen to burst some vessels. She said she wasn't going to concern herself just yet, but if it spread to his torso it could be something serious.
WELL GUESS WHAT?
Its spread to his back and stomach. I am so scared to death that the leukemia came back. I don't even want to think of it. But it stays on my mind all the time.
And on top of all of that, I am having heart issues myself. I am waiting on results to a stress test. I don't know what to think right now, except that I have to be here for John. I don't have time to get sick!!
So with all of that said, Keep us in your prayers!! I want John to be OK with his blood work Monday. And God knows I need my heart to be OK. I just needed to get things off the mind.

I hope your test went well...we moms have to remember to take care of ourselves and being under stress and worrying about all of this can take its toll on us. Do whatever the doc suggests...maybe its just a blood pressure issue.
Thinking of you

John didn't have a good checkup. I had been concerned because of the little red rash that had spread to his back and stomach. I was concerned enought to cancel the ped, checkup because it was time for his shot. Instincts were right. We are going in Monday to Childrens of Atlanta for six mths of chemo. HE has Acute Myelord Leukemia also known as AML. This is a more aggressive form of Leukemia and will take most of it in the hospital, I will be camping out most of the time. I just cant leave my baby by himself. So I am trying to convince the Gyn to go ahead to take myself in friday for my surgery. Pray that i will be able to get fixed so i can focus on John.
Thanks,
Stacy

Well the story thickens, My ob dr said we were on for surgery friday. This is a much needed procedure, so I am happy about that. She was convinced by the onclologist that Childrens would help me recover so we can get both of us taken care of. SOO..... here it goes. Maybe I will be able to keep in touch. Check back with ya later

OMG Stacy when it rains it POURS!!! YIKES. I am soo sorry he has to go through chemo again. But AML treatment has a HUGE success rate in kids with ds. They're not sure why... I have my theories but won't divulge. Olivia went to EI with 2 seperate boys(both with ds) between the ages of 1-3 who developed AML and they are all doing great now. Kids with ds seem to respond better than typical children to the treatment. I'm sorry u hafta put your life on hold for now. I am the same way when Liv was in the hospital for a few months I never ever left her. The staff would have to tell me to go , eat etc unless it was a nurse I knew well that would not give her meds thru her IV( I am always there for the meds I guess I fear mistakes) until I came back from dinner in the cafeteria. (btw UCLA has fabulous food oink oink always thinking of food I am) Now what's up with your heart??? Are you okay? I had a procedure almost 2 years ago and have yet to have any problems. And surgery Friday? Man girl your life is quite full right now eh? I will make sure everyone in our house says a prayer nightly for your entire family. Besides I think Olivia has an "in" with God all her prayers seem to get answered. John is too cute. Hey make sure you utlize the child life department when he's there. Thats the degree I just got and the child-life people can be a great resource and fun for John and you. (((HUGS))) Steff

Surgery is on for me on Friday, Crazy Crazy life right now. Trying to pack for John and Me for Childrens. And also packing a small bag for the local hospital. Looks like we are traveling overseas for a year. I will try to keep everyone posted as often as I can.
Thanks for the encouraging support,
Stacy
