Well, the funeral was tuesday. As funerals go, it was very pretty. Pink and white coffin, white satin lining, white dress and tiara. Mom held up pretty well, but of course she is devastated by her daughter's death. She wrote a beautiful tribute to her daughter. One of mom's sisters wrote a song and sang it, a brother wrote an absolutely lovely poem. There was drama, but it was not connected with the funeral.
We have had a little boy for 2 1/2 years. He was 2 months old when we got him. His mom decided the day before the funeral that she wanted him back. just like that. No transition, no planning, just out of the blue. He is one of those children who is an absolute joy to have around. Very intelligent, well beyond his years, funny. We are devastated at losing him. Rhienne (ds) keeps asking where he is. I tell him but I don't think he understands that he doesn't live here anymore. Added to that, Rhienne's brother has been.....detained for the last month. Rhienne REALLY doesn't get that. So things are a bit out of sorts around here. However, we shall get past this too. God is a comforter and I am counting on Him to be just that.
On a lighter note, Rhienne is now referring to everyone as some type of food. For instance, when we left the summer camp this evening, he told one of the workers, "Good bye, toast!"

actually...it sounds pretty typical...
i have a girlfriend here, who is a member of a family run funeral home. She says some of the people that are attending that you don't recognize? undercover law enforcement, just standing by, because THIS can be the MOST volitile of family gatherings.
Good Luck to you...there is a special place in Heaven for friends like you, you know? We are so sorry for the loss of this child......that should be the focus of the devistation!
