Did not think Morris West had been accepted as doctrine by the church but maybe it has. OK by me, I'm a non-practicing agnostic. "I know what you are thinking. You need a sign. What better one could I give but to make this little one whole and new? I could do it; but I will not. I am the Lord and not a conjurer. I gave this mite a gift I denied to all of you--eternal innocence. To you she looks imperfect--but to me she is flawless, like the bud that dies unopened or the fledgling that falls from the nest to be devoured by ants. She will never offend me, as all of you have done. She will never pervert or destroy the work of my Father's hands. She is necessary to you. She will evoke the kindness that will keep you human. Her infirmity will prompt you to gratitude for your own good fortune... More! She will remind you every day that I am who I am, that my ways are not yours, and that the smallest dust mite whirled in the darkest spaces does not fall out of my hand... I have chosen you. You have not chosen me. This little one is my sign to you. Treasure her!" -- Clowns of God

Just goes to show that priests are only men, and therefore fallible. Sad story.

I need to introduce these priests to Sarah. They would find that she is just as human as anyone else.

ACK!!! You know on one hand I am THRILLED the church sees our children as "non-sinning" and "children of God".... sweet and well, I'll take it! ;D BUT..... I agree with the mom that this isn't helping for integration and inclusion when your own priest can't just go through the motions. I would assume he thought he was being nice and honest and what HE felt was right... but this is 2009..... I bet God would agree that our children are angels.. aren't all kids? But I also think God would want our kids to be "included" I think that should trump all! A.

Uh... Ryan steals and lies. He knows he is not supposed to take things that don't belong to him, and yet he does it. Then he lies about taking it. And yes... he UNDERSTANDS! You bet he does... every time he gets caught doing something he should and he is asked about it, he will try to lie about his involvement to keep from getting into trouble... how normal is that?!
I still believe that people make comments about children with disabilities being innocent to help themselves FEEL BETTER about what they are seeing/experiencing. Maybe it is hard sometimes to make sense out of seeing children struggle, and making excuses for them helps justify what is seen.
I wish I could experience an era when each person is defined by their own actions... not by what others think they can or cannot do, not by statistics... (sigh)
