Hi everyone! ;D I hope you're all doing well. I haven't been on here in awhile but seem to have more free time lately so I thought I would check back in with everyone here and give a bit of an update on Andrew.
Andrew is in kindergarten this year and doing exceptionally well. We just had our IEP meeting last week and have decided that he will go into first grade next year full time with an aide for communication. He is still not talking much but has some really funny things to say when he does talk...LOL! He has a communication device (Vantage Lite) that he is doing really well with. He can find words and catagories faster then we can. Ohhhh and ofcourse he has found all the knock knock jokes on it and thinks it's hilarious to play them at different times...such as at church, meetings at school and ...my favorite of all....when Mom got pulled over for a tail light being out. I think the policeman thought he was just being a nuisance. LOL! The boy defnately has a sense of humor....no matter how inappropriate at times!
Andrew has just learned how to ride a bike! He is so proud of himself. When I first saw him ride it by himself, my eyes filled up with tears and he stopped and told me "no boo-boos mom, no boo-bbos". LOL!
He still does not like the cold weather or the snow but insists every time it snows that I bundle him up in his snow pants, hat, mittens, boots, coat etc. I take him outside and he just stands there (in an area already shoveled) and wines and cries to go back in and take off his snow pants, hat, mittens, boots etc...ughhhh. I just keep thinking...maybe someday he'll actually put his foot in the snow....yup...someday.
We have worked very hard on manners with Andrew and have made some progress. Instead of shouting "NO!" when he doesn't want something, we taught him to say "no thank you". So now when he doesn't like something someone is doing or doesn't want something he will scream "NO THANK YOU!!" Now if he could only lower down the screaming a bit, we might be ok. LOL!
I hope everyone is doing well here and should be on more now that I have some time. I hope to talk to you all soon!!!
