Well, I woke up this morning to a 2 hours delay (after missing 2 days because of snow).
Collin woke up and proceeded to start complaining that his stomach hurt. This in its self would not be unnerving to me but after further investigation I found the child covered in petechiae and just a week or so earlier he was complaining for joint pain. I proceeded to send him on to school (if I kept him home every time he complained of a stomach ache he would never be at school )
So, I sent him off to school only to make it to work and 10 minutes later get a call from his aid saying "Collin only wants to lay down and he is complaining his stomach hurts...what do you want me to do?" I convinced her to send him down to the nurse and let him lay down and rest for a little bit to see if he could work through it.
Well, about 30 minutes later...the nurse called. She had set the timer and when it went off asked him to get up and go to lunch with the rest of the kids. Which Collin went willingly. After gathering his tray and sitting down Collin continued to empty the contents of his stomach out on his tray!!! GROSS!!! The nurse called and asked me to come and get him....Once home the child was fine...not stomach ache or anything.
I took him to the doctor this afternoon anyway because I am concerned about the joint and stomach pain and petechiae. . She basically did what I wanted and ordered blood work. Collin (now 10) jumped up in the chair, pushed up his sleeve and gave blood willingly from both arms...His right arm kept blowing:( He only verbally complained once but I never had to hold him. I did have resort to bribery and he got a chocolate shake!!! I am so proud of him!
Now we wait for the results.
