Enucleation is done.....took a long 2 hours which wasn't anticipated....guess there was some scar tissue from previous surgeries so they had to also address that. Funny it was just ONE more thing....on the left eye's way out LOL When the doc told us I thought "but of course"..... LOL They gave him morphine and sent us to our room upstairs. He is doing very well all things considered. Granted he is liquored up on morphine and with this golf ball sized patch he has no clue that he has no eye....but he hasn't complained ONCE! Dr said it would be comperable to eye muscle surgery which we have had a handful of over the years, but he is tolerating this better then that. Just got dinner so he is eating grilled cheese, apple sauce and vanilla pudding....while watching Elmo on TV LOL Thank you all again for your love and support, it means a lot! A.

At least now you can relax a bit...at least emotionally...hard part was the anticipation of this big event I imagine. I am just hoping it won't be long until you post that he is no longer in pain and everything is going well...but until you do...am with you in Spirit.

Well, I spoke too soon he is miserable now and has been for a while. Codeine was useless and made him fidgety....gave him two half doses of morphine with motrin chaser and he is still in pain. Good thing is he hasn't tried to take the patch off, but he is self abusing and also beating me up....and rubbing his eye like it hurts..... It's going to be a loooong night... A.

Not really..... we will be staying until tomorrow. Changed his meds then the "as needed" med order wasn't working for me...so we got that changed to round the clock, which is what I previously stated he needed to them. I think we are on the same page now..... Russell is truly miserable...in pain and aggitated...and he can tell he can't see out of that eye now so that breaks our heart too Pray Russell and I both get sleep tonight! A.

He slept all night and so did I thank goodness! He just got his AM dose of pain meds to start off our day of liquoring him up! I know he will still be in pain and aggitated but I want to get him to some level where we BOTH can cope better and go home!
Right now he is under the covers in taco position sleeping more.... LOL
