I am hoping you all remember me? I am back.
I know I have not been good at getting on here. Life happens and well, you can get awfully busy. Mom had her surgery in April and my father and I were busy taking care of her. She is much better. It was just some female surgery she had to do.
I fell and broke my left jaw. My foot hit something hard in the kitchen and I sprawled all over the tile floor. I made contact with my chin and jaw on that hard tile floor. My left knee too. I had a day surgery for the jaw. All they did was put four screws two on each side of my gums and bone. Then they put four rubber bands two on each side connecting to the screws. I am on a liguid diet as well. Recovery should be six to eight weeks. Well, five to seven weeks I guess. Tomorrow will be a week since the surgery. I had never broken a bone or had any type of surgery except for my tonsils being take out when I was kid. The doctor said it would be a hour surgery but he was wrong. It was just twenty or twenty five minutes. There were no problems at all with it.
I just finished a Whey Triple Fudge, soft frozen yogurt and Jiff peanut butter shake. It was wonderful! Thank goodness for Lactaid. I have take it every time I have a dairy product. I may be on here more often to see what you are all taking about.
The only problem I have is my teeth. When the screws get tight I feel it in my teeth. I hope they will be okay. They are my real teeth and they are not always in good shape.
It is just my first week. I need alot of prayers and have been receiving quite a few cards. I am determined to still live my life normally. Maybe in just a different way.

Debbie, we could never forget you ;D Nice to see you posting even if it's because you are injured. Hope it heals up quickly! Ice cream & frozen yogurt do sound like a nice way to heal I might enjoy that diet. No, I'm too much of a carb person.

Oh Debbie! How awful! I'm so sorry to hear you broke your jaw. And here I joke that if someone would just wire my jaw shut maybe I could loose some weight! I promise never to make that joke again! Are you in pain? Did they at least give you good pills?

No. The only pills I take are the ones I swallow daily. What I do is take an ibrophen but the liquid kind. You can only ingest that so often though. I was doing okay until tonight. My jaw doesn't hurt as much as the screws do. I have to drink water often to keep my throat and mouth wet. Morning time is not good for me but that depends on how my mouth feels. I have a glass of water by my side while I sleep. I have a long recovery. I have good people around me though! My Mother really is the care giver as far as food goes. Eventually I will do my on liquid foods. Some things are only good when your Mother does them. ;D I guess I am dependent on her at the moment.

Debbie
I am so sorry to hear about your fall and surgery. We will be praying for your quick and complete recovery.
I know what you mean when you said "Some things are only good when your Mother does them" I love it when my mom visits and cooks my favorite foods.
Take care, Sharon

Jackie, Dr. Dodson should know or his nurse Becky should know because the Dr. I am seeing wanted to ask him about me and my general health. I have the heart murmur and rapid heart beat. I don't really know if they did since they didn't share with me on that.
I can talk just fine but without my teeth moving. I saw the Dr. today and he took off two rubber bands. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to say, "But wait a minute. It has just been a week. I mean, should we wait until after next week?" He watched the big ex-ray of my mouth and where my jaw broke. It is healing! I only wear two rubber bands now on each side of my mouth. It feels kind of strange but at least I can take my daily medicines now. Mom has really put the Calcium and protein in me. The Dr. told me go ahead and move my teeth normally but to be careful. It is hard to do that with the two rubber bands on each side. This is a new experience for me since I have never broken a bone before. It was scary I admit.
I just started reading a new book and it is a thick paperback. It is titled Dream West by David Nevin. It is historical fiction. It will keep me mentally active for a while. ;D I am a happy person.

Poor Debbie! I had jaw surgery to correct an open bite 20 years ago. I remember the frustration of not being able to open my mouth. Although my mouth was immobilized for a couple of weeks, it took quite a while before I could open my mouth wide enough to stick a fork in it. I had to go in for physical therapy for a few weeks. Hope you get better soon!
