HI everyone... I'm new here, so forgive me if you have already discussed this, but has anyone experience with growth hormones?
Our daughter Rain is 19 months old and well below zero on the DS growth chart in height. We are taking her to an endocrinologist...
Anyone else had such severe growth issues?

Let me also welcome you to the group. You will usually be able to find someone who's "been there done that" May I suggest that you post this on the Down Syndrome General Forum...YOu may get a better response to your question. Sorry I don't have any experience with growth hormones. Mary Grace

Would second the suggestion to ask your question on the general forum. Also no experience with growth hormone, but you might want to read old study and Dr. Leshin's comments www.ds-health.com/abst/a9905.htmCharlie's endocrinologist from CHOP was concerned with lack of growth a couple of years ago. But, since we got him dx'd with celiac and put him on a gluten free diet, he's had a nice growth spurt. I think the endocrinologist and I would agree that we would only try HGH on him if labs showed a deficiency. Only other reason I can think of is if he were a left-handed starting pitcher for the New York Yankees and HGH might help him recover from an injury faster, and his good friend Roger Clemens recommended it. Just kidding, something like that might keep him out of Cooperstown. Visit with an endocrinologist sounds like a good idea, might want to get checked by a gastroenterologist as well. See what the endo says. And good luck. -- Bob
