Hi... Hey Nobodys perfect is written by someone else I know nancy Miller. I don'y know if I'd give it to a new parent it's a little too analytical and psych oriented but I guess the right person would enjoy it. Nancy Miller has a support group here for parents of kids birth to 5 and now she is starting a support group about teaching our kids how to feel self worth and have good self esteen in their pre teen and teen years. She's an awesome lady outta UCLA. I LOVE HER GROUPS and plan to go to the self esteem one starting in Jan. at our regional center. She makes you feel like things you are feeling that may not seem right(like when I talked about the lady who called me all happy a few weeks after Liv was born and I just hated this lady cause she was just too friggin happy...lol and she made me feel okay and right about wanting to kill the wretched happy lady) LOLOLOL... Anyhow just thought if you see any of her books get em they are good. Especially after you have dealt a bit with the crazy emotional rollercoaster in the beginning.. (((HUGS))) Steff this is to momto alicia..not sure of your first name.

I hear ya on the 'happy lady' Steff.... ;D It's something I try to refrain from doing when talking to new parents....try to avoid being a Pollyanna....but its hard...because usually when I get called in to talk I find myself on a DS HIGH!!!!
I have to admit I hated the one and only person who tried to communicate with me immediately after Ems birth....she needed to cry along with me for a moment...not try to talk me out of my grief before I had a chance to absorb it all.
For that reason I ask often not to be the FIRST contact...but reserved for later when a family is beginning to seek more information.

Jackie.... thats great you KNOW what your good at .!!!LOL... I can usually do better with new parents.freshies...Usually when they talk with me and they meet Olivia who is really a nice intro to ds cause shes a funny talking fool and really acts appropriately in social situation. EVERYONE is always soo impressed that she is ULTRA polite. Her teacher loves that about her and uses Liv as an example in the politeness area. Somehow without me saying anything I can see their faces change after they meet her she's one cool kid frustrating as all get out sometimes but man ya just can't help but like her... LOL!!!
