First of all thank you for all the prayers and for Jackie keeping you guys posted!! I did have a pulmonary embolism. Started out I had a blood clot in my leg, 2 weeks later they found another one. I was having a lot of shortness of breath too. No appetite, started having constant migraines (which I've NEVER had that often) and just felt horrible. I finally followed up with my oncologist/hematologist (my primary care doc wasn't doing too much for me) and he ordered a CT scan of my chest just to make sure there was nothing else going on. He told me later he really did not expect to find anything! But they did-in the middle of the scan they tell me I am to go directly to the hospital and check in on the 6th floor!! I was on a heparin IV for 7 days and they started coumadin on Friday. My coumadin levels still aren't where he wants them but he said yesterday there was no reason for me to just sit at the hospital. He ordered another CT scan and a shot of lovanox and then sent me home. I see him this morning at 9 for blood work and he said he'd probably give me something else but I can't remember what he called it.
It was nice that not even a day at the hospital and it felt like a big fog had lifted. The migraines stopped and the shortness of breath started going away. They had to increase my synthroid while I was there. My doc thinks my birth control pills caused this so he took me off of them. He did order a hypercoagulation work up but said it will be next week before all those results are back.
Kaelyn did get to come see me a couple of times. We had fun hanging out in my hospital bed together! She was so good about not touching my arm with the IV. I told her it was my "owie" and where I got medicine so she was real gentle. She would cover me up too. Such a caretaker! My husband was a champ through all this too. He said he doesn't like being a single dad tho! hee hee. Kaelyn took care of him too. Gave him lots of hugs and would act goofy to make him laugh. I will NEVER forget the look on Kaelyn's face when I walked in the door last night tho!!! I got so many hugs. And she wouldn't let me out of her eyesight last night. She would come up and take my hand and make me walk around with her. It was like "you're not getting away from me again!"
