A totally light hearted issue...should Emily get feathers in her hair? LOL. I think it is such a fun trendy thing but have concerns about her ability to maintain them for a long enough period to warrant getting them. I really don't know anyone who has gotten them but think it would be fun for her if we have time before the conference. I have no idea how hard it is to take care of them...anyone? NOTE TO NEWBIES READING HERE....not everything about having DS is about medical and developmental issues...LOL ;D ;D ;D

Oh I have so wanted to do that for Kaelyn!!! There was an 18 mo. old in her class last night with one. I think it was just a clip in tho. SO cute. I've heard you can style them just like your hair. She is so hip and trendy she needs to at least consider it!!!
Ok, I talked to my coworker who's 11 yo daughter just got them, and she said you wash and style them just like hair. Her daughter swims every day with them and it's no problem. She said they are VERY easy to care for. Emily needs to go for it!!!

Do not let my 15-year-old hear about feathers in her hair - she'll be begging me to pay to have it done. She really needs a job so she can pay for all her fashion desires - LOL!

Oh my goodness. I had seen advertisements and lots of stands for the feathers, especially at an outlet mall, but I had no idea it was such a big fashion trend right now. Laura is deathly scared of feathers. Never have been able to figure out why. My mother thinks it is because of some peathingy feathers she had in an urn in her house when Laura was a baby, Laura could see them from her room, and when the AC would turn on, they would move around with the air current. But....who knows? I saw a couple of girls with them in their hair, looked cute. But Laura will be skipping this fashion trend! Sharon

Ha Sharon...did you see the censorship of your post about feathers...pea..thingy feathers...love that Big Brother still has a 'dirty word' list here...LOL.
I am still not sure of the logistics of getting this done when I go to Austin...this long distance parenting is very hard in some respects...like getting feathers...LOL ;D

Jackie, I did see that and laughed! Wish I had a censor button I could carry around with me sometimes!
Can't wait to see if Emily gets it done by convention.....

I did not know about the feather thing either (I am going to have to get with the program now that Angela is a FRESHMAN!)
She has been growing her bangs out since the 1st of May when I last cut them. She wants them all grown out like the rest of her hair. They're finally at that really annoying stage, right at the end of her nose. Not quite long enough to pull back, but constantly in the way. A month from now I'll be able to pull them back, just in time for school pictures.
So tonight I pick her up from her dad's and his GIRLFRIEND cut Angela's bangs. OMG...I wanted to blow a gasket. I didn't murder anyone, but it was close, and only in my head so Angela didn't even know. OMG I'm still livid.
Now I want to do the feathers. How much to they run?

Oh, I would have been furious about the bang issue!!! Not sure how much the feathers run. From what a friend said, they aren't too expensive.
Jackie, we are at the Marriott, arriving Thursday afternoon. See you soon!

I think you can actually do them yourself...lots of U tube videos about it...but I have heard anywhere from 5-10.00 a feather professionally...still not sure we will have time for this...if we don't I will try and make it happen in Vegas when we have a girls trip in Sept.

Went out to eat tonight and our server had a really nice feather, so I decided to ask her about it. When I asked her where she got it, I expected to hear the name of a salon. Instead, she said "Hobby Lobby". LOL! I asked her if she just kept it in when she shampooed her hair, and she said "oh no! I don't have that kind...........it just clips into my hair". That's the kind my Em needs!!

Susan I have thought about that too...they sell feathers everywhere...Katie is not a fan but has said she has scoped out several places...says Eall the salons do it there...even ULTA. The schools there do not allow them...so it must be the University students that keep everyone in the feather business. We shall see how much time we have and if Em is still up for it.
