Hi all, Thank you for the warm welcome! My Caitlyn has always been a very sweet child with lots of personality and charm. However, this past week something has happened...she is hitting other kids, being totally defiant and it is not the least bit CUTE! She does have a nasty cold, looks like a sinus infection and I'm just praying and hoping it's a combination of this virus and the meds I'm giving her. Anyone else have experience with this? Thanks so much for your help! Lynn (mom to Caitlyn 4 yrs ds)

YES Lynn we have experienced that same thing with Chris on certain antibotics he has been on. OMG just recently we took him off this one antibotic that he had been on for weeks and I have my great little Character back ;D ;D So I don't know for sure if thats the reason for Caitlyn, but it very well could be. Maybe you could call the Ped and discuss. I also know with Chris, who sadly has had tons and tons of sinus infections over the years that when he was tiny before he could tell me his head hurt from it, he would act out. We would give him tylenol when he started actting out and it was amazing the difference. Hope Caitlyn is back to her old happy self and feeling better PRONTO CC ~

Yosh was on a prescription decongestant a few weeks ago and it made him so irritable. He was totally not himself, crying half the time and yelling the other half. Over the counter stuff can also change behavior. Add feeling sick on top of that and anyone would act out.

From another list-serve I'm on: (I've deleted the names to protect the innocent, LOL!)
"I called the pharmacist today to ask about the behavioral changes _________ is experiencing on Augmentin. She is aggressive, hitting, short attention span which was noted as soon as she was started on this antibiotic. She is not having any gastrointestinal problems (no diarrhea or vomiting). The pharmacist said that he had never heard of this before, and these side effects aren't written on the fact sheet that comes with the antibiotic. So he checked in another source, and sure enough, he said it is very rare, but you can get the following side effects: agitation, anxiety, behavioral changes, confusion, insomnia, and reversible hyperactivity. So I called her pediatrician, and they took her off the antibiotic.
