Miss V will be 2 next month. Time sure has flown by. Developmentally she is closer to 12m. Now we need some birthday ideas. I am thinking some Playmobil 123 or a nice doll. She has alot of other toys. I was also thinking the second set of signing times DVD's but I am trying to cut back on TV time so that seems sort of silly right now. She doesn't really seem to learn any new signs from watching them anyway. The rest of the family does. Anyway, if anyone has any great ideas that have been hits with your kiddos I would love to hear. ETA - Veronica is not yet walking. Just starting to pull up a bit. She moves around via butt. Thanks!

Although Adam is 6 now, it seems like just yesterday that he was turning 2........... But what I rememeber being his favorite toy at that age was his sit and spin that also played music and lights up. We actually still have it and he still likes it, just not as much. It is also really good for upper body strength. And music CD's are always a favorite for him although not at the time of opening it up.......... I am going to throw out another question, Saturday Adam is invited to our next door neighbor girls b-day she will be 8. She is Adam's very very special friend she is the sweetest girl I have ever meet. I just know she is going to turn out to be a special ed. teacher or thearpist of some kind. She is unbelievable with him!!!!!!!!!!! And of course everytime we ask what she'd like for her birthday she says "I don't really know" She is the only child I know who doesn't have a list a mile long at Christmas or Bdays. Her mom is being of no help either (they are just way to sweet!!) And being am mom of 2 boys I am not up on what soon to be 8 year old girls are into. So I'd love suggestions also. We want it to be something special. Hope I was of some help to you, and hope someone can help us:) Thanks, Monica

For a 2 year old girl who has a lot of toys, maybe a doll stroller or doll bed, or toy grocery cart. Cassandra loves her doll stroller, she and her sister have stroller races around our house! Cassandra really likes her sit-n-spin too.
For an 8 year old girl, how about a craft kit? Maybe one for making friendship bracelets or necklaces, or a tye-dying kit (depending on her mother, of course).

HI!! My daughter Alexys will be 2 next month too!! Her developmental therapist brought over a great toy yesterday. Its called an aqua doodle. Now when I first saw it I thought Lexy would never be able to draw on it (in the past, she seems not interested at all). I don't know if you have ever seen one of these but it is really neat! You draw on this mat that lays on the floor. The pen that they use is filled with water (can be refilled too), and it only draws on the mat. Then, it all evaporates after a few minutes, including anything else it may end up on. Just thought I'd throw out the idea. Lexy is drawing cirlcles on it and she is also scribbling a lot. I'll be interested to see some of the toy ideas. I need to start thinking too!!

Meghan loves her doll stroller and shopping cart. Both kids (22 months and 4 yrs) love the Leap Frog phonics fridge magnets. When Meghan turned 2 we got her her own chair -- like a kids' size lazy boy or whatever. she still loves it. Also big is the Leap frog Discovery Ball www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005BHK3/qid=1110493083/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl21/103-8985042-1851013?v=glance&s=imaginarium&n=507846and the Leap Frog Learning Karoake (sp?) www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00008X35R/qid=1110493137/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-8985042-1851013on that one leap frog's age is 18months and up and Amazons recommendation is 4 and up but my kids FIGHT over this toy regularly - with no end in sight :-) and the Leap Frog ABC Tad doll (gee....do you see a trend with LeapFrog in my house, LOLOLOL) Meghan doesn't like dolls...I wish she did :-) At 2 she was also playing w/ the Mega Blok Piano or keyboard - not sure they're making that one anymore... we also got her around that age the fisher price cruise and crawl playground -- and just looked on amazon and couldn't find that one either....but that's great if you can find it. although takes up room, definitely the perfect height to pull up on and (what else) learn to cruise :-D that's all i can think of right now....and darn it that was only 2 years ago! hugs & happy early birthday! laurie

Logan just turned 2 on Sunday. He LOVES his Playschool Busy Ball Popper. He also loves toys that sing and dance when you push on the hand or the foot (like Elmo or Blue). Of course, they don't have as much "therapy" value, but he sure thinks they are fun!

Christi, Seems like not that long ago that Emily was turning 2 too!! She was also not walking, so one of the toys we got for her was a Fisher Price (or Little Tykes, I can't remember) table with fun stuff to do on top of it. She played with it SO much and it really increased the amount of time she spent standing up. She would walk around it, holding on and playing with all the different stuff. Later on, we found a larger table similar to that one, but it had a center piece like a huge Lego or Duplo thing. She loved putting Duplos on it and would stand at that table forever! She also enjoyed listening to tapes on a little tape recorder and sigh......the stuffed BARNEY was her favorite.
Happy Birthday Veronica!

My son also will be two next month 25th. And he also was a "bottom scooter", he just started crawling a couple of weeks ago. He now uses them both, lol!! He also has been pulling himself up more and has started showing interest in walking, so I plan on getting him the Fisher Price "Stride to Ride" push toy, to help him with is walking. He also has the Busy Ball Popper and the Leap Frog refrigerator ABC magnets mentioned above and loves them both!! I never thought of a sit n spin, I will have to get one of those too!!

Yosh absolutely loves Baby Tad from Leapfrog. It has six light up shapes on it tummy which play songs when you push them. Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Learning Home is also great. It really encourages cruising and squatting because it has stuff to do at different levels. Yosh loves it because it has a door he can open and close and he is very into doors. And for a little gift, Gymboree makes the worlds best bubbles. They don't pop as fast as regular bubbles and give Yosh time to go after them.

Hey, I really like those bath toys Jackie posted the link too! You don't seem to find enough (or good enough) bath toys out there anymore. Those are cool!!! I did have to laugh though, it said "Too many kids play with this item, it is temporarily out of stock" LMAO! Love the way they put that!
I am not good on bdays for a 2 yr old w/DS. Russell was very delayed and still is in many areas, so we still are buying him mostly 12-18month toys. Back when he was 2 he was still in an infant type stage so the toys we thought would be go for him he actually didn't play with until a few years later.
Have fun!
A.
