Denial?

Ok, if that lady was a nurse she would know that the AFP is highly UNRELIABLE, from the child's picture, sure looks like he has DS...she sounds a bit unstable, and obviously the hospital thought so too if she was put thru numerous psychological evaluations, if you read that ad. They don't do that for every lucky woman, ya know....Yeah -- she's in denial alright. I just feel bad for that baby....for obvious reasons.
that being said...denial is pretty typical....doesn't happen w/ everyone but it happens.
there was a man who was in our support group...his son was so cute...he was from Africa, living over here. He was in total denial...to the point where "prayer would make his son healed" sort of thing.
I have 2 cranky kids here...gotta run. laurie

The only people who were ever in denial were my in laws and my doctor. I knew before Ali was born, confirmed when she was born. I was the only one who accepted it before the blood test however. My doctor accepted it after the blood test but my in laws did not, and pushed that it was wrong, ect. And then a couple of weeks ago when the Neurologist felt the need to do a karyotype on my other daughter.....oh boy did that get my in laws going. "Oh there's no way, she doesn't have anything!" ect, and went on to list the reasons that of course were very offensive to me...she's too normal, doing too well (even though she is not even doing as much as my daughter wtih DS was at her age) But I think it's a well known fact that my in laws and I just don't mesh.

Maybe the woman in the Drs.' office wasn't in denial as much as she was just not in the mood to talk about her son.
My son and I were in a dept. store and a mom, two-year-old and gradmother with a stroller were in the same department. I stopped to admire the baby and the look on my face said it all! The grandmother looked at me and nodded her head. The mother looked at me with daggers!
I visited for a moment with the grandmother and then left. The mother never said a word to me. I wondered if she was having a bad day, wasn't ready to see a 13 year old with Ds, I don't know.
I wouldn't put it past the woman in the Drs. office to say that just to be obnoxious. Am I making sense?

I mean why would if her child has DS would she go to all the trouble of telling you the name of another syndrome Unless the child has both and she just decided to talk about the one Just my thoughts after reading your post CC ~
