I'll start a new thread. Didn't mean to steal Chelsae's, Ali's mom's. But thanks for your concern, CC. We're in a holding pattern. Dr. Harry said Charlie's lungs are clear, but Robert was wheezy. They're both getting Zithromax. Charlie was already getting Flovent and albuterol. Robert is trying out Xopnex, doesn't seem to like the nebulizer. Dr. Harry said T&A is elective surgery. He wouldn't do it with a kid the least bit sick. If Charlie was his kid and had a runny nose, he wouldn't take him to the OR. I talked to a couple of nurse practitioners at CHOP. And may talk to a couple more. Found out we don't have to show up until the afternoon. Thought we'd be scheduled for up in the day but didn't expect it to be that late. We'll see how Charlie is in the morning. If he's really sick, we'll call and cancel. If he seems better, think the lungs are still clear, doesn't have a temp of 100 or more, isn't coughing his head off, or throwing up, then we'll make the drive to the far side of Philly and see what the anesthesiologist says. Would not like to have to wait another 2 months to get this done, which is probably what rescheduling would mean. But sure as heck don't want to take any foolish chances with my little guy. I'll let you guys, er, girls, er, ladies know first chance I get. But I'm kind of hoping to be out of pocket for a couple of days. Wait and see. I should know how to do that by now. Regards, Bob

Good luck Bob - Dr. Whetmore did Paiges back in 11/03 - the recovery was hard for her. She went in with a sinus infection, no fever, and they still did it - of course that was the real reason she had it done, chronic sinus infections and rotting tonsils, huge adenoids and apnea.
Good luck!!

Thanks, all. Charlie did have his T&A about 6 pm yesterday. Some little guy broke line at the last minute, some emergency case with respiratory distress, which gave us another 30 to 40 minutes of wait time after having checked in at 2:30. But, boy, is Dr. Jacobs fast. Think Charlie was intubated for only about 30 minutes. Believe Dr. Jacobs had one more procedure to do after Charlie, to make for about a 12 hour day in the OR. I asked if he had just been warming up all day to get ready for us. And he said, yep, just now hitting my prime. I offered to go find a couple more kids on the street for him to work on, since he was in such good form. But he said, no thanks, that's okay. Procedure itself went very well. Very little bleeding. Dr. Jacobs seemed pleased with the amount of space in Charlie's airway. But Charlie has been quite junky, trouble keeping his oxygen sats up with blow-by, though his lungs remain pretty clear. It's all upper airway junk. So, after up every few minutes all night dealing with pulse ox alarms, they brought in an oxygen tent about 5 am. He also still has an IV in, hasn't taken much by mouth yet. He's not a real happy camper at the moment. But I'm not sure how much unhappier he would have been if we had waited until he was more well to do this. He's really in pretty good shape. All we need do now is get him on room air and eating and drinking. I really hope we have our happy little guy back in a few days. I'm on a CHOP PC. Don't know if we'll go home later today or not. Thanks again. Later, Bob
