Had Sarah with Dr last week - since before Easter she has been complaining of a pain in her tummy and back -at times crying with the pain (which is unusual for Sarah). It wasn't constant but recurring. Dr decided it was probably IBS (which I suffer from) and has put her on fybogel and buscopan. She also said it could be that her periods are about to start and the buscopan (an anti-spasmodic) would help with digestive and menstrual pain. Anyway I was to get an MSU to have analysed (she had problems with persisent UTI a couple of years ago) which I did. Rang for results today and there is no sign of infection but there was quite a bit of blood in the sample. She asked if I had noticed it in the urine (which I hadn't) and also asked if she had thrush as that can sometimes result in blood in samples if there is itching and scratching. Dunno about thrush - haven't physically checked yet (will do tomorrow). So I am to get MSU again in a couple of days and have it analysed. Anyone any ideas? ? Stella

It could possibly be a kidney infection or a kidney stone (just a thought) Hope it gets better soon for her!!!

Thanks Annie. It turns out that Sarah DOES have a kidney infection - dr. phoned me this evening to say she got a second report from hospital to that effect. Have to pick up anti-b for her tomorrow and i'm sure she'll soon feel better.

I was gonna guess an infection. I've had plenty of them earlier in life and they hurt like crazy! But the symptoms you decribed hit the nail on the head!
Glad you got it figured out. Tell her to drink lots of water and lay off the pop for a while. I had to quit completely before mine went away.
Take care.
