Hey all! Boy have you all been busy while I was gone. I'm not even going to attempt to get all caught up so will sum it up this way - hugs and prayers to those who need them and happy wishes to all those who celebrated birthdays or any other happy occasion.
So, I fell for the mouse on vacation. It may be a marketing sess-pool, but you have to admit, there's some magic to be had. We had a wonderful time and some of us even conquered some fears at MouseWorld. I am proud and pleased to announce that I got my own chicken-butt on the Tower of Terror and I loved it. My son caved half-way through the trip and started to trust me - and started having a better time.
This was so therapeutic for me...even with all the walking! Emily was the best behaved child there! I got to enjoy my son, something I wasn't able to do last summer being pregnant and sick as a dog all the time. I saw a lot of kids with DS and a lot of kids with different types of abilities and I counted my lucky stars. We rode the monorail with a young woman with DS who just stared at Emily - I wondered if she could tell. Once again I learned how big this new world I got dropped in is and how it's not that bad - in fact it's pretty darn good! I also counted my blessings for we really don't have it that bad.
I got a big kick out of one afternoon spent in the Magic Kingdom. Here I am sitting in what's supposed to be the happiest place on earth, feeding my little bug and there are sounds of screaming, crying and tantrums all around me. You would swear you were in some sort of slaughter house!!!
So, yes, I fell in love with the Mouse. Sorry Bob, but how can you hate a place that accepts children of all race and abilities and offers them the ability to have plain old fun. I saw it through different eyes this time. I look forward to returning when Princess Em is old enough for her coronation!
Emily had her 4 month check-up the day after we returned. She was her usual self - quite active, in fact, looked as if she was going to climb off the table! Her dr. is quite thrilled. Her #'s are leveling off - she's now 75ht/70wt on typical charts and 90/90 on DS. She went up on typical and down on DS. I'm not letting my guard down, but there is a little part of me that is pathetically proud. Had a great PT session today and her therapist is thrilled with her head control and response and more! Dr, PT and Mom expect her to roll over any day now! Plus she's so darn cute! She really is a bowl full of sunshine and warms my heart everyday. Gosh I love that little gal of mine!
OK, enough of me. Pollyanna siging off! LOL!!!
