Hey all! I'm no holy roller, not going to get all religious on you with this, but I did feel as if God was by our side all day yesterday.
I opted to have Emily's baptism during a mass as opposed to the wham, bam, thank you mam, baby baptizing service. I wanted this for two reasons, 1 so that our church-going family and friends could attend mass at the same time and 2 b/c (being honest here) I just couldn't bring myself to dealing with all the other families and babies and that comparing junk and all those questions of "how old is your baby", etc etc. Yes, Polly's quite shallow at times.
Well all I can say is that it was the most beautiful services I ever attended. I am SO glad we did it this way. Each part of the baptism ceremony were wrapped into the mass and I can't begin to tell you how special this day turned out to be. First we met the monsignior at the back of the church where we announced Emily's name (I choked on her name b/c every time they said it I would get all teary) and our intentions and then we lead the procession. Insert pic here:
This was a pic of us walking down the aisle.
It was wonderful to have our family and friends there - almost everyone that was invited made it to church. My son Ryan was so well behaved (thought he fell asleep next to a pod the night before!) and was also involved in the mass. He got to carry the bread up with the Godparents. Something he had just recently asked when it would be his turn.
Emily DID NOT CRY while being baptized!!! That's my girl! insert another pic here:
Oh well.
And now for a pic of parents and godparents and Monsignior:
I wish I could at least draw a stick figure here.
It was a wonderful day and it's a beautiful life. Thanks for letting me share!
Oh, and it's still a beautiful life and a beautiful world, even if there are a few sickos getting in the way!
