Our twelve-year-old son's best friend is undergoing heart surgery Wednesday morning, May 26th. It is as serious as it gets. He is having a donor pulmonary artery replaced.
Thank you everyone for remembering this wonderful boy. We cannot lose him!

God bless you all for your prayers.
At 3:40 central standard time, surgeons were closing his chest and were anticipating sending him on to ICU.
He experienced some bleeding after the new pulmonary artery was in place and had to go back on the heart/lung machine, but the situation was resolved.
Please, please continue prayers for a successful recovery.
Thank you so much everyone. I can't imagine losing this sweet boy. MB

Prayers, MB...I know all too well how scary this is, having seen both of my babies go through heart surgery...my daughter may have to have this same surgery sometime in her life, actually. Prayers for your son's friend.

As of 9:00am central standard time, Aaron is doing so well that the plan is to move him out of ICU this afternoon. He is being weaned off all the pumps, tubes, heavy pain medication. His mother reports that he is exhausted.
Please continue to pray for a successful recovery.
Thanks! MB

As of 6:00pm central standard time on Thursday, Aaron has been transferred to a regular room. However, his chest tubes are still draining and his oxygen stats slip into the 80s when he is off oxygen. He is in enough pain that it keeps him from sleeping and he has nightmares. Aaron does not have Ds.
I suggested holding his hand firmly while he tries to sleep, cocooning him with pillows and massaging feet, hands, shoulders etc..
Does anybody else have any suggestions?
Aaron did call to talk to my son. My son asked him how his kidneys were doing! Aaron said fine. Aaron has twice asked for a visit from my son so we will go first thing in the morning. Mind you, this is Thursday. He had open heart surgery and a pulmonary artery transplant on Wednesday and is mad that my son isn't already there visiting. Modern medicine is truly miraculous.
