We are still going threw that. Justin just started walking in Nov of last year he was 3 and he would do the same thing, he would get to going so fast he would fall head first, we did let him fall just made sure he didnt fall on anything or anyone. He is is not real steady and loves to go fast and still falls but he is getting better at rolling on his side or landing on his butt, he still sometimes run into the walls, he has a big brusie right now from walking into the door knob. It will get better, I hope, LOL When we see you in Texas next month they can share bruise storys, LOL Good luck Becky

Funny you should mention this. Ashley is 17 months old and started to do the same thing about a month ago.. Mean Mean me just let her fall, I think that has tought her alot. Now she is walking all over the house getting into everything. She still tries to run and falls, she does manage to catch herself very well. Jace is doing very well to. WTG Jace ;D ;D

can you get a toy shopping cart...little tykes makes them, and weight it down (put rice bags or socks stuffed w/ sand in the cart part) and have him push that? they use them at Meghan's school so the walking toy doesn't slip out from under the kid when they're out charging around:-D and the extra weight slows them down too. check w/ the PT and see what s/he says? good luck! MM starting walking at 18 months too but i can't remember how careful/careless she was. I think that's a "boy thing" lol...cause my little guy is just sooo crazy racing around! I always let my 2 do p[retty much what they wanted. I didn't want them to be afraid to do and try things so i tended to leave them be.) good luck. and wtg Jace!!

Jenna did te same thing when she started to walk. My sister and I would just sit on opposite ends of the living room for hours while she ran back and forth to us.
We got her a push toy and she used that for months until she was stable enough to walk around the house.

Thanks for the responses. Jace has already started to balance himself. He has never had PT. I've asked and was told that his gross motor skills are great. I even had an evaluation done and the PT just said "Slow him down a little" (Gee thanks LOL ;D) Hopefully, it will just take him a few more weeks to get a little better control. I've kinda just got out of his way and let him go for it. ( no broken bones so far, knock on wood ) Rhonda PS -- I'm definitely gonna try the weighted down shopping cart. THANKS!!
