After reading the message board about Libby Kumin latest study I did a little research and found an excellent article by her about Developmental Apraxia of Speech which I think describes the speech habits of many many of our children. It is well written and easy to understand and set off a giant light bulb in my head. This describes John to a tee. I am not happy to say he has this, but I am so ready to start therapy specifically designed to treat this. Here goes: www.altonweb.com/cs/downsyndrome/apraxiaI have just printed this whole thing out to make copies for both his teacher and speech therapist.

okay- sorry about the link- it is so frustrating as I tried it before I posted it, but I think I added apaxia and shouldn't have. Try this. www.altonweb.com/cs/downsyndrome/When the site comes up, go to the therapies section on the left side of the page. Then click on apraxia. Maggies Mom: This is indeed the same article. It is great. CC: If this link doesn't work, I can't add the article as it is seriously like 10 or 12 pages printed out. I will get it straight- I promise!!!!!
