Hello, everyone!
I am president of my local Down syndrome support group and we're working on a project to develop a booklet containing "stories of hope" for new parents of babies with DS. I am wondering if any of you would be inclined to share your story so that we can get a sampling from around the country.
All it would involve is filling out a short questionnaire, and sending that in, along with a really good photo of your child. None of the personal contact information will be shared in the booklet. Just names and hometown. If anyone is interested in helping, please post here and I will e-mail you with more details.
Thanks so much! ;D

Jenifer, If you would like stories about an older child with Ds, I'd love to share them with you for this booklet. Emily is 13, so we have LOTS of stories!!

That would be wonderful. Do you plan on publishing this as a book or just for your group? I think it would be great to do as a project together for new parents that would love to hear stories about all of our little ones. My e-mail is snickers71801@yahoo.com and let me know some more information about the booklet.

I would love to hear from parents with kids of all ages, and especially welcome submissions from parents of older children.
I know many of us on this board have toddlers and elementary aged kids, but those of you with teenagers and adult children, please reply!! We want to show new parents the entire spectrum of what our kids are capable of.
And in answer to Taby's mommy, at this point it's just a booklet for local distribution, but who knows where God will take it? Only time will tell. I believe anything is possible!
Thanks everyone!

What a GREAT idea ;D I tell you when Chris was born 11 and 1/2 years ago all the books and stuff I read didn't do much for me BUT finding other parents and hearing first hand the truths they went thru were the BEST. Even when some of it may not have been all rosey, but the real experiences. Wishing you tons of LUCK with this project and hope that other areas start doing the same thing ;D What a GREAT way to show new moms and dads that its gonna be OK CC ~
