I'm interested in your opinions....I've been wondering: Should we add surgeries and other important dates to the Uno Mas calendar to help us remember them?
Or.......should we consider a separate section on the bulletin board that is specificially used for postings when someone needs prayers, encouragement, etc? Would that make it easier to keep up with everyone who needs our positive thoughts and prayers?

I think either one is a great idea, would be nice to just click to see who needs prayers etc... that way when they do, and don't have time to post the day before or day of whatever event is happening at that time. Cool idea !!

Susan, I think we should add those dates to the calendar but also we need parents to post and keep us updated so we remember. We all have so much going on with just every day life and it is great to get a reminder of what is upcoming and what is happening and how it is going. A perfect example is Laurie's mom right now and I am so glad Laurie keeps us updated and reminds us they need prayers daily. Or if the family is too busy, they could send an email to someone like Stella did to CC when Stella's dad needed prayers so badly, (BTW, he is still in need of our prayers, doing better but a long way from being out of the woods yet, also Laurie's mom still needs them badly too!) and then CC posted here for her and asked for prayers from every one and positive thoughts. So would the combination of those two work you think? I just want everyone to know we are all thinking of them and we care and love everyone but we need reminders to do that (shheeesh at least I do .......I am pitiful about not remembering) hugs, Robin

or - like an intentions listing...like my church has a book that each week, people in need of extra prayers list them in that book and a prayer is said for the intentions listed in that book for the week at all of the masses. so maybe we could do something like that...a week by week intentions listing, that people could say please remember xxx in their prayers this week because xxx is happening, and if they wanted they could list separately to keep us updated, such as when a little one is having a cardiac or other surgery, etc? just an idea. laurie

Good Morning everyone! Look at the opinionated Newbie! As I've been reading so many posts, I've seen that occasionally one slips by unnoticed. I love Laurie's idea for an intentions list...especially with my fetal EKG coming up. (Gosh I'm really starting to sweat that!) Will I be the first to list??? ;D
Hugs to all, Christine

Love the intent behind this idea....but I worry sometimes we forget this site is very much PUBLIC....let's just be mindful about what detailed info is shared on these boards.

I don't think we would share too much personal info...as i was thinking it, it would be like
"Please remember Meghan in your prayers this week as she has xxx coming up" that sort of thing - no last names, hospitals or other personal info...
I know it's easy to forget this is a public forum -- I belong to one crafter list where there are like 800 members and the people are crazy....they post their addresses & phone numbers (which they're not supposed to - but they just dont THINK) and then a few months later will post "oh by the way, I'm going to Europe for 3 weeks and won't be home, so am going off digest for awhile and will be back april 15th". I mean, there are kooks out there who might collect this info -- and other things, and you never know what their intentions are!
i think it could work well, if there was a certain protocol followed, right? laurie

Hmmmm Opinions needed Hmmmm OHHHH I always have opinions, LOLOL
Personally, I think how ever you do it, calendar, separate posting, whatever, people still need to be reminded, just too much going on in our daily lives to remember everything
I will be honest, although Susan you know I already shared this, I rarely remember to look at the calendar here at UNO, but maybe others do better with that
So my final vote is WHATEVER you all decide works for me How's that for being direct on my opinion LOLOL
Now being we are on the topic of needing prayers, I could use some, OMG still 3 full weeks of summer left Not sure I will make it that long, ROFLOLOL

Thanks for your replies. I first thought adding these important dates and requests on the calendar would be enough, and yet....I keep thinking that sometimes the birthdays are missed as well. I was thinking about a section just before the book reviews like "Please remember" or "Close to our hearts" or something like that. And, in the thread title, people could write something like "Laurie's mom's surgery, Aug 13th" and all the replies and new info on that topic would go under that. If the important dates were included in the thread's title, we'd be sure to see it and remember who to be praying for and when. Just a possible way to do it. More opinions? And yes.....definitely no personal information like addresses, phone numbers, or even the hospital. We could include those things in a private email if needed.

I think that's a great idea Susan and a separate section rather than the calendar, that's not a place I check Stella
