I agree with everyone about getting another opinion. Do you have a friend or family member that is in the medical field? Take them with you to the next appointment. Get them to read Chris' medical records. I know my head starts spinning when the cardiologist starts using medical terms.
I also agree with Bob. I would be terrified if Sarah's heart raced like Chris'. I guess you have to weigh your options. Which is more dangerous, surgery or a racing heartbeat?
The cardiologists that have worked with Sarah have lots of experience with patients with Ds. I would think most pediatric cardiologist would.

I would definitely get a 3rd opinion like many others here have advised. Have you ever been to CHOP? My little guy went there and we were VERY pleased with the care he received. And his heart surgeon was tops!

My hugs and prayers to you Christie! I hate the position you and your husband are in and the fact that so many parents here are faced with it so often. I was going to offer same advice as Laurie and Bob...including Philly. I know a few people who found excellent care for their babies there. In fact one uses a ped cardiologist who's right down the street from me. (How's that for location should I need?)
Well, I know I'm not one to offer advice as my little one is still baking! I really just dropped in to let you know I'm thinking of you and praying for you!

I think you should get an appointment to see both doctors at the same time, then lock them in a room together. Don't let them out until they have presented their ideas to each other and one has admitted they were wrong, or at least admitted that their idea wasn't the best. Then, I think you should still get another opinion from another practice, just to make sure. One of the first two doctors may have caved just to get out of the room!
I like Bob's advice about asking a heart surgeon too, in addition to a cardiologist.
Good luck!

THANKS guys you are ALL the BEST ;D Christopher will be getting another opinion. I will have to share that his Heart Doc truly is one of the best of the best right out of Childrens Hospital in NY city and he has known Chris from birth. The other Doc is young and doesn't know Chris much actually very little, only for fill in. In the past I have had second opinions cause I have felt that one Doc for 11 years may miss something or become toooo at ease, if you know what I mean. Anywho in the past the second opinions have always been the same as his original Heart Doc which is a good thing. Colin and I after Christopher's last surgery experience both said unless its life threating NOOOO more surgeries for Chris and today we both agree to stick to that. Thanks as ALWAYS for letting me vent my worries CC ~
