I got this message today from Emily's job coach. Emily has been getting up every morning and getting to the gym at 7:30....This is her one month mark!!!!
Jackie
Hi Jackie! There is now a poster hanging in the gym with photo of Emily. It reads, "Monthly Inspiration"...I lost 5 lbs...I lost 10" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll try to get a shot of it for you. Also, Emily is in first place for contest of most inches/most weight lost! The other women there are very kind and supportive of her. There is one woman who has volunteered to give Emily a ride on Tues - Friday...which is a huge savings. Cab cost is $8.50 EACH W AY! Kim

That woman who is driving Emily is both an Angel and very lucky. I wish I had someone depending on me to take them to a gym every morning. What a great motivator.
Love that good news!!! Congratulations Emily!

OMG Jackie! How awesome. Better watch out....one day she is gonna come to visit all skinny and give you grief about your exercise routine! Mine is completely non-existent....oh well......as Roseanne once said, "Its nice to have a dream". Tell Emily that she has us all beat with her record....the only time I exercised religiously each day....in my entire life......was in Airforce basic training and tech school. That was the best shape I was ever in for three months of my life. LOL

Emily Skinny? ....I can only hope......her weight has been a big issue for me for a long time. Not that I am embarassed by it...just that I think she cant possibly be comfortable...and am still amazed at how fast it came on....with no apparent medical basis for it. She has never been skinny...but always totally normal in size....that is until about age 16.....but she lost the weight she put on then....and at 19 went off to ENMU and man...thats where it happened!!!! But instead of the Freshman Fifteen...it was more like the Freshman 80!!!!! ....and being away from home and away from the diet patrol...she took full advantage of the situation... Jackie

JACKIE, I am sooo happy to read your post tonight ;D Very COOL HATS off to Ms. Emily for a Job Well Done Losing weight is never easy especially as one gets older Just the other day we had Chris to a DS Clinic and OMG I thought Chris was truly at this point very fit and trim and Doc went on and on bout the weight issue for our kids with DS. He was telling me how hard it is once they gain the weight is to take off. Heck we can all relate to that, or at least I can Chris is 11 bout 4'3" now and weights bout 90 or so I think and he is telling me already to watch his weight He tells me even if at 11 our kids are in the middle of the DS chart their could be trouble ahead with the weight, which we all know is not healthy. My Doc has suggested I myself at least lose 10 lbs and just that alone seems like such a burden, your Em as motivated me, THANKS for sharing. CC

Jackie, how much has Emily lost altogether? Didn't she lose around 30 pounds before she moved?

I will have to go back and check...but think this brings her to about the 40 lb mark. She didnt loose much when she first moved....and started all this back in November. She will be home Oct 7 and I can hardly wait to see her. Surely she will need some new clothes!!!!!

Actually its the exercise that pleases me the most...she would NEVER buy into even just walking on the paths thru our neighborhood....and Ed has said all along that with lower body wt obesity...exercise is essential to the wt loss.

What great news - Emily must be so proud!!! It's obvious that Mom is and should be! I feel that loosing weight is the toughest thing out there to become motivated to do. I'm looking forward to pics too and to hearing more success! Go Emily!
