It may be awhile before anyone gets to the bottom of this, but it sounds as if enough people are riled up to call for an investigation. My guess is it will be hard to pin on anyone. Check this out.... www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_57093.asp

i'm a big huge liberal and live in the uk. i hate what bush and blair have done - they've made my life more dangerous - terrorists are now much more likely to attach london's underground than anywhere outside baghdad. That means that i get killed and my son with DS loses his dad. BUT!!!!!!! THE DEMOCRATS so often get it wrong. They need to wise up if they are to take on the Republicans. Did this guy not think it through? Obviously not. It's deeply offensive and Kerry needs to highlight it and distance himself from it immediately. Enjoy the election!!

Very interesting article Tricia! I hope they get to the bottom of this because no matter WHO is responsible for it, it is horrendous and Mr. Fitzhugh will not be the only one who needs an apology in the end if he is not responsible.
I have to admit when I read his BIO information, he sure didn't SOUND like the kind of guy who would stoop this low, but who knows?

My guess is that this was probably not sanctioned by either side and was created by some loose cannon that supports the Republicans just to cause trouble and scandal and outrage. I'm with you Susan, after reading the Democrat's bio, boy scouts, deacon in church, etc... there is no way that he did this. Also, I believe that his opponent would not be so stupid either....so it looks like some last minute manuvers by someone with time on their hands and a twisted sense of their own power to cause mayhem. Not to say that some times the politicians themselves don't get in trouble. We have a heated race for the US senate from South Carolina going on right now and the republican candidate has just gotten himself in a world of trouble by opening his mouth during a debate. LOL First he said that he thought no one who was gay should be a public school teacher (unconstitutional), then later, when trying to clarify his position, he added that single, unwed mothers should not be teachers....oh boy....I think he will be regretting that for awhile....he is currently a congressman. This generated all sorts of letters to the editor...people asking if he was going to be fair and suggest that male teachers who father children out of wedlock should also be escorted out of the classroom, along with any dead beat dads, teachers engaging in adultery etc..... Oh boy.
Come to think of it, when I was a middle schooler, I remember all the kids having a gossip field day because one of the gym teachers was having an affair with one of the administrators.....and everyone always thinks the kids don't notice things! Please, give kids some credit. And that generated at lot more unrest than the gay English teacher.....he was pretty boring! Well, at least we only have 3 more weeks of the mudslinging, I hope. Of course, we have to remember Florida!!!!!! Its not over til all the chads are counted!!! LOL

I agree that it 's WHO did it, not what PARTY did it.. it's just wrong... Oh.. and even if the BIO is pretty, don't believe EVERYTHING you read! LMAO! I am not saying he DID do it, but please don't think a pretty BIO can make you NOT do it either Well, I would probably bank it's someone who THOUGHT they were helping the Democrats, probably a private citizen... but... ***sigh*** NO one will get repremanded for it and yes, IF it was a private citizen thinking he/she was doing it's duty to their party, the party SHOULD distance itself and say it was WRONG... It will be interesting to see how this does play out. AND, I still think writing the letters it good, because I still believe that this has nothing to do with what party you are for and it is just not right! A.

They were talking about this on a morning radio show today in Chicago and I tried to call in but couldn't get through. They didn't know I link to tell people to go to to see the ad and I was glad about that. Part of me was hoping that this didn't get to be a big news story because then there would be a lot more people who saw the ad. I am sick at the thought of the sickos out there who will find the ad funny and the fewer of them that see it the better as far as I'm concerned. I can't imagine it was approved by Mr. Fitzhugh~that would seem like such a huge lapse in common sense but who knows any more. The problem is is that there is someone out there who took the time to make it and have copies made and distributed. It all just makes me so sad. Mary

I don't get po'd like this much, but I called him. His assistant said he didn't do it, has no idea who did it and has no statement about it. He's a layer, no rubuttal? Fishy. He himself did not need to do it in order for it to come out of his office. So I sent him a nasty email and let him have it. I included in there that if he thinks her recieved this in error to please forard it to the guilty party

Have not been on that web sites yet (hope have time to check them out) and do not know what they are about, but just saw Stanley's post and want to respond to him.
Stanley, You wrote: "... i hate what bush and blair have done - they've made my life more dangerous - terrorists are now much more likely to attach london's underground than anywhere outside baghdad.."
My respond to you: if Bush and Blair have not done what they've done - it doesn't mean that your life would be less in danger than it is now, it could be even worse.

I doubt we will ever find out the origin of this offensive poster....and rather than get into heated political debates here at Uno....why dont we all just urge each other to VOTE......vote whichever way you want to......but just go VOTE. We should never forget that we are fortunate to live a country where people have the right to do this...and it DOES make a difference.
I have had an absentee ballot sent to Emily which she should be getting any time....she is excited to be a part of the process....and I am proud of her for being so interested.

Just copying my post to Down-syn on this topic: I think the whole affair is totally disgusting. I also think that partisan political shenanigans of this flavor are truly beneath contempt. Now, somebody, probably more than one somebody's, knows who ordered, printed, picked up, and "delivered" these fliers. It's probably naïve to believe that the truth will out or that a good citizen will step forward and see that justice is served. And, yes, I am suspicious of the Republicans, they seem a bit behind running against an incumbent, and, yes, may have something to do with being an old yeller dawg Democrat. But if some d**ned Democrat, screwed up and misguided a la Al Gore, had a hand in this, I'd say hang 'em just a bit higher than you'd hang the Republican. But wouldn't it be nice if a local DA could find some clear evidence of this wrongdoing and lay hands on the perpetrators. I'd think a good punishment would be a million dollar fine payable to Special Olympics, and maybe half a mil to the ARC, and maybe another half mil to NDSS. Followed by 30 days hard labor cleaning all the outhouses in Tennessee, rationale, if you want to sink to that level, fine, go live there. -- Just mine own humble, as always, opinion, Bob
