Forgot about this post....here is a post I made yesterday to the Teens and Adults site where I also post...its a follow up to my original post here: I guess Emily stayed glued all night to the tv at Katies house....she kept track of the statistics although at one point Katie said she was getting them all mixed up.....but was so engrossed she didnt care...LOL. As I have told you before...Emily is an die hard Republican.....and Katie said when Texas turned Red on the map Emily cheered big time. Katie then explained to her that her very own vote helped Texas go the way it did....so...when the next state came on in Red....Emily went thru the same act. Katie said...."Emily.....why are you sooo excited.....you didnt vote in Oklahoma"....and Em just replied with a big grin on her face....."Well SOMEBODY did!!!!!"......LOL Katie said the whole night was like that....and she said it is NOT easy trying to explain the electoral college to someone with down syndrome...LOL. I am really jealous...I wish I could have been with her . She flies back tonight to Houston and will be home here in three weeks for Thanksgiving. I just think that if she can get sooooo into something as hard to understand as the election process then the sky should be the limit on what is out there for her still to learn. I am hoping this will open the doors for her to get interested in joining Norines new GET A LIFE project where people with disabilites in Texas show up at the capitol and talk with legislators every day the congress here is in session from Jan thru May. I would say....the pump is primed in this regard. Jackie

Jackie - I got a chuckle at what Katie said, "it is NOT easy trying to explain the electoral college to someone with down syndrome." HELLO - it's not easy explaining it to most people - w/o DS!!! I have to say I thought of Emily all Tuesday night! This has been one heck of an election year and I found myself much more interested in the conventions, debates and polls. I think hearing about Emily's interest in the election increased my own interest! The mud was definately flying and I feel that it was one of the ugliest elections yet. I believe we even experienced how uptight we've all become even here, on this site. I'm glad it's over and I hope we can all just heal and get along again. She is one bright woman. That she was able to immerse herself in this whole process and still come out sticking to her guns and not allowing her opinions to be swayed - that's priceless! The world is her oyster! Best wishes for a great visit!!!

Yes it was ugly...but the tone yesterday on all the news channels made it sound like things are going to be better now....I surely hope so.......I think the way the last four years have gone project an ugly image to other countries....and have put a crimp in world relations for sure...all our internal bickering.
My last message to Emily was ...as she is going back to the home of someone who is probably not too pleased with the election results...was...."Dont gloat....just say you are pleased that now our country seems more united and you hope the next four years are more positive". I would love to be a fly on the wall to see if...and how...she delivers this message....LOL I posted a pic of her Tues night at Katies in the Nov photos.
BTW....how is the pregnancy coming...you are getting close now....

LOL Jackie - I didn't think about that...the gloating I mean. That might be a tough one. Checked her out on the Album...she looks great! Such a pretty, young woman. You can tell how excited she was!
As for me, I am getting bigger and bigger - LOL! Cabinets seem to be getting farther away. I'm part of the two week club at my OBGYN. Saw Dr last Thursday and nearly fell over when he said see you in two weeks. Yikes!!! Gotta get a room together! Or at least clear out a bottom drawer! Seeing all the Christmas stuff in the stores really freaks me out. Shopping's about 70% done as this little wonder will be arriving right at the time. Need to plan an early b-day party for my son as he is 12/21. Too much! Really wish that my nesting would have kicked in by now, LOL. Guess it'll kick in the day before I deliver! Thanks for asking.
