Wow, Bob, that was an amazing story! You know, I think I may have read that story some where. I know I had read about the lady who came to swim but I really like reading it again.
Thanks for posting it!

Jodi, We started swimming lessons for Pooja when she was 3yrs. old. It took a good 5-6 yrs for her to relax and feel comfortable in the water. Our county has a one-on -one instruction for children with Sp.needs and sometimes there are 2 adults working with a child. Pooja swims 3-4 times a week thro' out the year. Now she treasures her time in the pool, swims deep end and can swim 3-4 different strokes. Her lessons now are like boot camp, she has to swim 6 laps on and off and then she gets 5-7 mnts playing her favorite game, pretending to be a lifeguard saving her instructor.
I only wish I could swim like her.

We put our daughter Elle in group lessons when she was 4. She enjoyed, however, her tubes were giving her some problems so we took her out. I think 3 or 4 is a good time to start. My mother threw me in to lessons when I was 2 and I competed when I was older at the local level. Also, in group lessons depending on the size of the class, your child won't get a lot of swim time. I think a half hour private lesson is better than three one hour group lessons. We paid $50 for a six or eight week group. I think the private was $20 per 30 minutes.

I was about to repeat myself and tell couple of old swimming stories. But I found this old thread. Think I'll go get a stock quote on Kimberly-Clark, the makers of Kleenex. -- Bob
