OK....Emily and I are officially now a part of CURVES gym. We went for our first workout today and I survived ...and amazingly...even enjoyed it. It's really pretty easy even for an old woman like ME!
Emily went to a similar program in Houston all last year and lost amazingly on it...and many inches so I was anxious to get her back in the groove here. She had NO trouble at all herself today. We plan to go every day for a while.
The one thing I noticed yesterday when we were signing up was...that every one exercising was....smiling...and no one was sweating. ;D Jackie mom to Emily 25

Before Em, I joined a facility like Curves and I loved it. Even though the program was for 30 minutes, I'd stay an hour. It's a lot of fun and you get a lot of exercise in a short period of time. Have fun ladies. I wish I could join you!!! No child care there.

Never been to Curves, but Emily is my inspiration!! I'll bet she'll keep you motivated Jackie!! Keep us updated! LOL one reason I've never gone there is because I had a dream about a year ago that I joined Curves, but for some reason....I was the only one there doing the various exercises totally NAKED!!! I looked around at all the people in the room and finally shouted "WHY are you all staring at me" ? I woke up shortly after that! Susan

Great idea. Laney is not a happy exerciser, she prefers to be as sedentary as possible. The only time I can get her moving is housework, she likes to help out with that. I wish we had aCurves in our little town, it would be worth a try.

Thanks for the stories...but gotta say....SUSAN....your's is best!!!!!!!!! ;D If it's hard going today I will just imagine YOU there as in your dream and I am SURE I will be able to keep smiling. We plan to go every day for a while. They say a minimum of 3 days a week. Cbean........Emily went to a gym like this called It Figures in Seabrook. I talked to the gym owner there once and she said they were just like Curves except the machines were adjustable. For those of you reading who dont know what Curves is...I found this online www.curvesinformation.com/?Referrer=GO&Subreferrer=1I first heard about it several years ago when the girl who does Emilys nails and feet every couple of months suddenly looked much smaller. She said she had been going to Curves and not dieting...I was amazed. Jackie Mom to Emily 25

There is also another place called Shapes that is just now popping up everywhere around here. Sounds like the same 30-minute type of program as Curves.
I went to Curves a couple of years ago - it's right across the street from my house - so I didn't have an excuse NOT to go. It is a good program.
However, one day I was in there after a particularly difficult day at work and I just needed to exercise and be left alone to shake off everything that had went on during the day. One of the "helpers" or whatever they are called kept following me around the circle to every machine I got on an critiqued the way I was exercising. She finally got the hint by the look on my face and the fact that I was ignoring her and she asked if she was bothering me. I said, yes, as a matter of fact you are, I don't really need you harping on me when I just need to wind down from the day I had today. She replied that when I signed the contract I had agreed to accept their help while using the machines. Grrrrrrrrr, needless to say, being that I was already in an extremely pregnant dogy mood, that little comment didn't go over very well and I cancelled my membership on the spot and never went back.
Now that I look back, I probably did seem like a raging pregnant dog, but man she just hit me the wrong way on the wrong day! And, that's my excuse for not going back. Poor woman probably got fired that day but I'm still using that as the excuse not to go back. Any excuse not to workout seems to work well for me! LOL
Good luck Jackie!

Way to go Jackie and Emily! I think you're going to really enjoy this workout. Make sure that you don't weigh yourself...instead make sure you measure yourself. If you haven't already, get a tape measure and measure your forearms, bust, waist, hips and thighs. It's amazing how quickly you can shrink when you stick to this program. Do an extra round for me!

CC~ I've always heard that when you dream you are naked in front of people that you feel like you are NOT prepared for something............and sigh...right now I am NOT prepared to be serious about exercising at all. After Louisville, I'll get more serious!
