Ok, I probably shouldn't even be writing this...but I can't help myself. Afterall, Emily is your child too! LOL!
So, we're here at CHOP waiting for Emily to be discharged. To recap, we came here for a visit on Tuesday with a neurologist because Emily was having infantile spasms (seizures). We were admitted that day. That evening Emily had a chest xray and a TB test. Wednesday morning she received her first dose of ACTH. Later that day she had an MRI. MRI came back fine. Thursday (yesterday) she had an EEG. This was supposed to be just for the neurologists to have a baseline for when we return for follow up, especially since they only received one page from the initial EEG.
Well amazingly enough, it seems to show an improvement. This wasn't expected, but all are very pleased to see this. I thought I saw this myself as when I was in the room with her during the EEG I peeked over at the screen and I with my untrained eye thought it looked better. I saw the page of the first EEG that the neurologist had on her desk and it looked like she had scrambled eggs for brains!
So now my training has increased from physical and developmental therapist to nurse practioner as I'm leaving today with so many tools for my new trade!
If anyone ever finds the need to come here I can honestly say that CHOP is phenomenal! The one thing during this scary time that made me feel good was that we're with the best.
This morning Emily started smiling again. Her seizures are decreasing in quantity and in physical appearance as well. Already we can see such an improvement. It's like that movie "Awakenings" - my bug is resurfacing and I can't believe how quickly she's recovering.
Optimism restored once again - feeling Polly growing inside me once again. Thanks for all your well wishes!!!
