Now that John has been in K for almost 4 weeks, I am happy to report it is going great. The thing that makes me the most happy is how happy he is when he gets home. He is not particularly tired, not crabby, not whiny, he is cheerful and happy. He eats lunch at school 2 days, (He goes 2 full days, 3 half days) and loves it. His 1:1 aide is working out okay- she seems to be doing her job and not catering to his every need. She did tell me that last week he was quite naughty, would not come down off the play equipment- laughing at her the whole time- so we went over his discipline routine and he has not done it since. He needed a stern talking to, but he really is smart and gets exactly what he has done. What amazes me the most is how much happier he is than last year. Last year he was in a class in which he knew all the kids from the previous year, same teacher, same aide, same therapists. And for a kid who loves routine, he must have been sick to death of them, because when I tell him it's a school day, he looks at me totally serious and says "my old school?" and I say " No, Mrs. Trent" and he says "Oh thank you mama.". I really feel like he has risen up to the increased expectations- He was just ready to take on more . I am very proud of him- I am lucky as he really is a good kid- he has been fairly easy to raise and his behavior has just always been good.
He does have to have tubes put back in again- for the 3rd time. The dr. thought we had finally out grown it, but this allergy season has hit hard and he has fluid built up again. He will have it done in 2 weeks.
