It took me awhile to respond because I had to get out the baby book for this one. LOL! It seems like Andrew has been sitting up on his own forever! Looking back at his baby book I see that he was 9 months when he sat up supported and about 11 months before he was sitting all on his own. I know it's sooo hard to wait for our little ones to reach a new milestone. Sometimes it seems like forever for them to progress along and then other times, out of the blue, they take off and catch us totally by surprise. You can talk to your Ped and see if he/she could recommend some exercises you can do at home with your little one. Andrew loves the exercises our PT has us do with him.
I don't know what a bumbo seat is, but maybe it's kind of like a boppy?? That's what Andrew used (and still likes to lie on it when he's tired and drink his milk). Good luck!!! -Trisha

I just came across this today. If you go to page 20 it gives you a developmental milestone chart. Sitting alone is between 6-30months. Hope this helps. www.ndss.org/media/pdf/2005_NPP.pdfMarisa
