I was getting backpacks ready for school tomorrow and I pulled out a form that had gotten crunched down to the bottom of the bag and see that school pictures. Individual, class and whole school pictures had been made today.
Today was John's day to get the kids to school since my first class on Mondays is early. I seen my kids once today before they went to bed and that was when they had just got home from school and I remember thinking MAN they look ROUGH today now to think that roughness has been immortalized.
Kaden had his bright red cheeks and one thing I noticed was his lips were really chapped so in addition to NOT matching he was red and chapped these pictures ought to be REALLY pretty

Radonna,
Ah...the beauty of school pictures!! I can remember getting my kids to look like they stepped out of a magazine...hair perfect, collars perfect, bright-eyed beauties. I'd proudly think how wonderful they all were...then they'd get on the bus!! Needless to say, when I got the pictures back, it looked like someone stole my child and replaced them with some messy, food stained, rumpled tot, with squinty eyes and a smile only a MOTHER could love. I often toyed with the idea of the "RETAKE", but then I thought...why? It would only work if the photographer came to my house BEFORE they got on the bus. So i would buy the originals in all their glory. But what memories!! Dolly

Radonna, I can SO relate!! Emily loves nothing better than to come home from school and take anything that looks like a note from the school and hide it under her bed! I have missed so many things because of that little habit! If your school does "retakes", it might be a good idea this time to go that route.......although, I know exactly what Dolly means about how they can look totally different by the time the photographer arrives!! Justin had picture day a few years ago on a day I was out of town and didn't realize it. When the pictures came back, they were the BEST ones he had ever had taken at school (he actually smiled with his teeth showing!!), but he was wearing his bright red Tshirt that says "YO MAMA" on the front of it. (the back of it says "was Pro-life".......lol he loves it). We sent an 8X10 to his grandma, who said "why on earth did you let him wear that shirt" ?? LOL Susan

When I saw this topic, I had to chuckle! We refer to moments like these as "Mother of the Year" events.... My most recent MOY was last Tuesday. I was in the process of carrying in load #4 from the car following work/school/dance class. My ever charming 7 year old was already in the house. As I dropped the junk, I mean very valuable kids stuff, on the the table Emily says-in the most perfect sarcastic tone- "Mom, "Laughing Larry" was great! All the OTHER PARENTS enjoyed it a lot!" "Laughing Larry" was a class play...Mommy (and Daddy) completly forgot about the program! I am still working on my accepteance speech for the MOY statue! LOL Hugs!

Guess I can join that club. Winterbreak ended and Haley went back to school yesterday - wouldn't you know they had pizza for hot lunch. This is the ONLY THING Haley eats for lunch at school and loves to buy it - I sent in lunch so she didn't buy. I sent a note in today for her aide that if absentminded mom doesn't LOOK at the calendar, ALWAYS let her buy lunch-she always has enough $$$$ so that isn't a problem. You have to understand - the pizza is from Papa Gino's which Haley thinks was created to satisfy her pizza urges! She calls it "her pizza store".

LOL!!! I am laughing sooo hard!! I can also totally relate....ROTFL!!!
The week before vacation, my son Nick came home with a detention slip for not having clothes to change for gym. This is a new rule that has just started. I asked him when this rule went into effect and he replied as any good teenager would..."I don't know"....as he shrugged and walked the other way. So I call the school and ask when this new rule took effect and how come I wasn't notified about it. The reply? "We sent home a notice with all students last week." So I say back, "well I never recieved any notice." To which she informed me, "umm Mrs. Marques, it was also in the newsletter that gets sent directly to your house." My well educated, mother of the year reply? "Huh...really." LOL!!! What else could I say??? Radonna...You are not alone!! You know what? Maybe the pictures will come out just fine. Good luck!!! -Trisha

You know, I look forward to seeing Jason's pictures just for this reason! I know, I'm evil, but they just crack me up. This year actually was a great picture of him. Last year he wore a polo shirt and came home with it buttoned all the way up . . . sure enough, it was buttoned up in his picture. Brian about had a cow because he looked so nerdy in his picture.
My favorite school picture story is actually about one of my sister's friends. This was years ago, long before they did retakes. Stacy (probably 1st or 2nd grade) was crying in her picture, holding her hairbrush with snot running down her nose!!! LOL!!!! That's priceless.

You know we NEVER do the pic at school for Russell and pay for it! I know... I am bad... but I can't see paying for a pic of my boy not looking at a camera and sucking his finger! I got PLENTY of those at home! ;D LMAO
So..we just pass on this stuff!!!

This just reminded me............sigh. This year when the Fall pics were taken, someone (probably the photographer) decided to remove Emily's glasses. That NEVER works........she will totally cross her eyes every single time if you do that! She tries so hard to focus her eyes, and ends up crossing them. The only way to get a good pic of her without her glasses on is to catch her when she least expects it. SO.........this year's pic not only had her eyes crossed, but her head was down and she was not smiling at all. YUCK! For some reason, we missed the retakes too! So, I started thinking.............YIKES, this pic is going to be in the yearbook!! And, you may think I'm totally wrong here, but I called the yearbook chairperson and asked if they would let me substitute a pic of Em and they said they couldn't do that. I said "Ok, then is it possible to just not include a pic at all, and write NOT PICTURED by Emily's name" And the woman said they could do that and had done it in the past for the same reason. I just thought......Emily does NOT look like that at all, and I'm not wanting the kids in her school to have that yearbook for years and rememeber her like that!!! So, sigh......she will have no photo in the yearbook this year. Susan

OH man!! I got the pictures back today. Well they were beyond words bad made worse by the fact that Jonathan had drew himself and INK MUSTACHE!!! Why no one washed his face I will never know. and Kaden's were slighty better he was looking down at the floor and had his hand stuck in his mouth. I already composed my please don't put me them in the year book letters.
I am tempted to buy Jonathans FOR the mustache because of what I might think when he is all grown up. I keep telling myself this might be funny someday.

OMG!! ROTFLMAO!!! I think that is hysterical Radonna!!
You do have to wonder why the photographer or the teachers, etc., don't pay a little more attention to things like that.
