We just give Jason regular vitamins, but he is 12 and can take those. He will NOT chew vitamins, so the Flinstones or character-type children's vitamins are kind of hard to swallow because of the shapes.
The regular vitamin we give him, we cut it in half because they are so large and he doesn't have any problems taking those.

Hi I have a lovely10 year old son Kielan who has DS and autism. He has been taking Mannatech products for 2 years. His health has improved dramatically, just one example: he ALWAYS had a yucky cold but for the past 2 years hasn't even had a sniffle. The list of improvements I think is spectacular, it has improved his and the entire families' life. It would take ages to tell you all of it but if anyone is interested I am happy to do so.

I don't know if we'll ever really know if the vitamin therapy works or not. The level of DS kids ranges so drastically.
I started Alethea on Nutrivene without the Piracetam. I was uncomfortable with the drug aspect, but not the vitamin aspect. My doctors are working with me while we try the vitamin and getting the bloodwork done at regular intervals.
Alethea is now 20 months and began the vitamin therapy at 14 months. She has not been any healthier, but she does have 2 older brothers both in school bringing home their germs and I babysit a preschooler. I have found that all of my children went through a "sick" year building up their immunities. Last year Alethea was nursing and so I feel her immunities were pretty strong. Anyway...back to the subject.
After 3 weeks of having Alethea on the supplement, I had 3 or 4 different family friends who had no idea Alethea was on the supplemet ask me what was so different about her. She was definitely more energetic and more aware of her surroundings.
Coincidence? I don't know, but we have stuck with the therapy and will continue to. I looked at it this way. I didn't find anyone who had tried the therapy and ruined their child and wished they hadn't, so I tried it.
Do I think it works for everyone? No, but will it work for your child? You'll never know if you don't try. I, too, embrace Alethea's DS. It's part of who she is and how God created her, but if I can help her be just a bit more successful, it this will allow her brain and body to function at a higher level, then why not give her every opportunity I can. I would give my other children every opportunity for success as well.
Just my little opinion...
