We have the same problem. Our solution is Stride Rite shoes, extra long laces, and double-knotted ties. It works well for us. Logan doesn't have the fine motor coordination to untie the double knots! Kim, Logan (Ds, 3 yr.), and Carson (7 months)

Wow, I had kind of forgotten about this little phase for Jason. I tend to dump those bad phases from my mind AS SOON AS THEY ARE OVER!
Last year on the school bus we had the biggest battle because the bus driver LET him take his shoes off and throw them in the stairwell of the bus - it was a fun game - WHATEVER! The last straw was when it was almost the end of the school year so it was warm and the windows were down on the bus. Yup, he chucked one of his sandals out of the window. I figured the bus driver stopped and got it - nope - it ended up in the back of a pickup truck never to be seen again! That bus driver knew I was one ticked off momma!!! Thank God he has a different bus driver this year. The first day he tried to take his shoes off and the bus driver said no way Jason, keep them on - and guess what? It's not an issue anymore, he doesn't even take them off in our vehicles anymore.
So . . . I am going to dare to say that all of your kids will grow out of that phase too!! GOOD LUCK!
