Tell us about your halloween adventures and mis-adventures!
We took the kids t or t-ing at the local mall. Unfortunately there is no t/t in our neighborhood -- don't know WHY but the past 2 years we've gotten no kids, so we don't go around here either. Maybe that's what everyone thinks?! But our houses are pretty far apart, so it's difficult to take the little ones anyways. <br>Last year we went to my friends neighborhood which was FULL of kids. I hope when we move next year, we find a friendlier neighborhood, that has the houses a bit closer together.
So, off to the mall we went - it was strange, but the kids liked it...I just hope they don't think that each time we go to the mall now they put on costumes and get candy, lol!
Both kids were ultra-good, which amazed me...and they were both really polite saying trick or treat and thank you. at one store, one of the clerks, who was a younger guy couldn't stop saying how beautiful MM was...and he was so sorry that they had run out of candy, and started looking through the drawers to find anything to give to them, LOL! When things like that happen I can't help but wonder if the person has had their life touched by someone with DS. Meghan really got into the whole thing and would lead us into the store and go up to the counter and ask, which was cute.
Of course, it being the mall, I couldn't resist shopping, and picked up some new shirts and a new pocketbook for myself (which I needed like I need another hole in my noggin)
So, pretty good day, it was.
How about everyone else? laurie

Okey dokey. Will try a little photo essay. Won't clutter up Charlie's album, but lacks the privacy and protection afforded by the photo album section. Lynn carves a mean pumpkin and made the boys matching tee shirts. Charlie wore his to school but took along his costume for the afternoon parade there. They both wore their costumes in the evening to go around the neighborhood trick or treating. Then Charlie had had enough. But the pumpkin was still happy. -- Bob

Bob, your boys are adorable as always. Sarah had a great time trick or treating in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, all the house have three or four steps up to the front porch but she was a trooper and just kept climbing them. My sixteen year old was bummed because she always goes trick or treating with her class and they didn't do it this year. She went ahead and dressed up like a pirate and took Sarah up to every door. Sarah didn't care about the treats, she just wanted to visit all the people. She thinks she is suppose to go inside every house. She especially loved the houses with dogs and babies. She wasn't able to say trick or treat but she made sure she told everyone bye. So cute! Alyssa got to keep all the candy and Sarah kept the pretzels and popcorn. It turned out to be a pretty good deal for Alyssa. Can you believe I forgot to take pictures! I'm so mad at myself. My dh bought Sarah a horse costume that looks like she is riding a horse. She also wore a cowboy hat and a bandana but she tore the straps off the horse at school in the morning so she wore the ladybug costume for the third year in a row. Oh well, at least she tolerates that costume. We had a very good time even though we felt like ice cubes by the time we got home. Chris

Fun??? Halloween was fun? Oh yeah..
The Neck and her sister went trick or treating for about 1 hour, it was soo cold Katie kept wanting to sit in the car. So I drove slowly while Emily went door to door. Every couple of houses, The Neck would say, I go I go. So off we went .. up the hills to the houses, she would giggle the whole way, then she would try to open the doors and go in.
When the people came to give the candy, the Neck would scream "Trick or Treaty!!!" and scoot under the candy givers arm and bolt into the house. Mom had to stop her!
Then, the school has a "parade" where all the kids get to parade around the gym in their costumes and the Rotary Club would pick winners and hand out prizes. Every child gets $1.00 and 5 kids per group of ten would get $2.00.
Katie... oops The Neck, was hysterical.. Marching, lifting her knees to her chin and waving (think the Neck likes the attention) Emily won in her group and boasted all the way home.
So then we had to stop at Subway, get dinner, go home eat, get baths and go to bed, because today was PICTURE RETAKE day... Pray oh please pray I get something better than a NECK this time.
OH wait, I better be more specific because I may end up with a NOSE or something... So please pray for a nice picture of Katie, showing her two eyes, a nose and a CHEESY smile.
Heck,. I had her practicing for three days.
Oh yeah BTW, Mother of the year here did not get any pictures either, but my friend the Papparazzi did and when I get my copies I will post them.
Oh Joy oh Rapture another Halloween down.
Hugs to you all!
Cathy

LOVE the pics!!! BOB... love the commentary!!! ;D Well, we always have friends over, been doing it this way since we lived in CA since we seem to be in the track to trick or treat in over our friends... so.. we had 3 other families with us and then Regan had her friend over. We usually eat and then go. It was ALOT of fun but it was moving SOOOOO SLOOOWWWWWWWWWW. LOL Two of my friends have little ones that, well, should have been in a stroller When mine are 18 months, or 2-3 yrs old, they are in strollers and we wheel them to each house, but my one good friend, her baby was 18-20 months old or so? He walked to each house and we had to wait for him.. so he didn't cover the amount of ground we should have and the night was a late one. But other then that.. it was alot of fun!!! The kids still made out with the candy. Russell did better this year... usually he goes in the wagon and we try to get him to go to a house or two.. and after about two houses he is DONE... throwing fits I tell ya... but this year he actually did maybe 10 houses, up the street!!! THEN he was done! LOL His deal? He was mad no one was letting him IN the houses!!! He truly could give a rat's patoot about getting candy and was really starting to get PO'd when he'd get excited to go to the next house probably thinking "ok, THIS house will let me in a play!"... only to have daddy hold his hand and help his bag open and they throw something in it... and he would let us ALL KNOW how he felt about THAT! so.... although he made it farther (BIG WOOHOO!) he still didn't care for the event and came home with his Papa. Russell doesn't eat candy nor does he understand any of this Halloween stuff. So , I am thinking next year, in the new neighborhood, I should bring all my neighbor's a box of Nutrigrain bars and tell them when we come to the house to trick or treat, give Russell a BAR and make sure he knows it! THEN.. that would get his attention and learn some good Cause And Effect! You go trick or treating, you get BARS! LOL... kinda like kids and candy... the bars would have to be the motivator to make him understand... heehee A.

A- I think that's a good idea with the Nutri grain bars. Whatever will encourage him to participate... Kaylee was a Cheerleader--she didn't stay home to pass out candy as she claimed she would. She took the bowl outside and put it on the front porch and took off trick or treating... Emma was a Rock Star and has decided that she will NEVER wear disgusting make up when she grows up. I was putting the lipstick on her and she says to me--"How pathetic is it that people actually DO this EVERY day? I will never wear make up..." and then a few minutes later she says.."Mom, do you think I look GOOD in make up--because I just think it's gross.." and I said (echoing my mothers words of years ago which I NEVER believed at the time) "You look so much MORE beautiful without the makeup--when you have the make up on all I see is it (lipstick, eyeliner, sparkles...) and when you don't have it on I see YOU and YOU are beautiful.." she said thanks..but gosh I felt old saying that.. Sam was Jack Sparrow and a very cute one on top of that. He had the most fun every running from house to house with his little (hispanic friend) Chago..who is only a year older...What a great time we had..sugared up! If I knew how to post picture inside a post I would...I will send them to someone if they want to do it for me.. All the pics are great of your kiddos and pumpkins are great Now to dump the candy out while they're at school... Cindy

Adorable pictures, you all! We had a good time! The kids had more fun at their school parties, I think...they had a blast! We went trick-or-treating at just a handful of houses...it was TOO COLD for me and Aidan (we don't handle the cold well at all!) and we were tired and just DONE after that. We ended at my brother and SIL's house and had a good time there. Aidan doesn't care about his candy, either, so everyone we know tries to have fruit snacks available for him He LOVES his fruit snacks! (loves them so much, he made up his own "sign" for them! haha). Oh, Aidan was Superman...or Super Aidan, as we referred to him as. He loved his costume and kept checking himself out in the mirror LOL Parker was a ballerina. Or...Madamoiselle Parker, as she called herself. (from Angelina Ballerina).
