I chose to keep mine hidden. I did not receive the e-mail. I would not have read it because I delete anything where I don't recognize the sender.

I thought the email was from a lady from our DS group. UMMMM, nope. It came from "Janet S", just in case anyone wants any forewarning.
I think Susan had a good piece of advice, since Unoland has the PM feature, you don't need your personal addy's shown. You do have to input your addy, but down below there is a box that you can check that says "keep your email hidden" I would recommend keeping it hidden.

I heard about this on another list-serve, but haven't received it myself. Just a sick weirdo, probably closely related to the "trolls" that show up in every list-serve or board now and then. Consider the source, and delete it if you get it. From past experience I would STRONGLY discourage anyone from replying to this kind of garbage - it only leads to more nastiness, which is what they get off on.
There's one of these whack jobs born every minute.....

It's not just on Uno that people are getting this horrible email, people on other DS lists and even people who have blogs are getting them. I have not received one but I would recommend reporting this person to their isp provider.

Like Laura said, in the past when we have had problems with mean-spirited people sending emails to our members (or doing the unthinkable.....using the pics of our kids in an inappropriate manner), any communication with them only seems to fuel the fire. We have to keep in mind that we are not dealing with well-meaning folks in this case. I believe they receive joy from upsetting us.

Wow, perfect end to a perfect week. I certainly hope St. Peter has a copy of Janet's email when she approaches the pearly gates and they get slammed in her face.
I got it and it was labled "Thanks in Advance"

Ok, ok, so I replied to that e-mail out of pure anger. I wish I hadn't now because I agree that's just adding fuel to the fire. I was so livid after reading it I didn't stop to think first!

I didnt receive the email...and if i did, i deleted it (unless i know the sender i never open an email) -- report this person to the email provider...not only is this email insulting and disgusting, it may be construed as spam, and the person can get in trouble... from the FTC: f you get spam email that you think is deceptive, forward it to spam@uce.gov. The FTC uses the spam stored in this database to pursue law enforcement actions against people who send deceptive email. this is the website www.ftc.gov/spam/while this email is not 'deceptive' per se, enough people complain and something may be done. of course is the person is using gmail/hotmail/etc they may not be easily found...if it is AOL or one of the other paid ISPs, you may have more luck. I'd report her right away. thanks for the heads-up guys....laurie

I don't necessarily think it is limited to Unomas. How many of you are on the down-syn listserve? Many people on there have gotten it as well. And my downcues email isn't here on this site, and thats the email it came from. Again, I think this person is googling DS and seeing what he can come up with. The creep.

I haven't got this email but again I have heard of other parents who have got it
it hasn't made its way across to the UK yet but I guess it won't be long if they are doing a mass email
on another message board I am on we had a post from someone who had joined the message board and was posting the same kind of message as in the email. The originally joined the message board posing as a parent of a child with DS and then suddenly they just let loose
I take it this is something similar that has happened in the email, perhaps people may need to be aware in case someone posts it here at all
