OK...........I have officially lost it! I have thought several times that I would LOVE to bring Emily with me to the Atlanta conference and have been SAD that she won't be 15 so she wouldn't be able to go to the teens thing.........and guess what??? Emily turns 15 on July 18th!!!!! WOOOO HOOOOO! She'll be old enough! Can't believe that was such a surprise to me!

Curious who plans to go to the conference? Where you are planning to stay?
We are going,as far as I know. Not sure about staying.. Need to look at the pros and cons.
Oh, also you planning taking kids? Leaving them behind? Taking kids and babysitter?

I guess if I took all 3 of my kids, we would fall under the "taking kids and babysitter" catagory. heehee.. Regan is old enough and she even said "oh, I suppose I will babysit while you go to the conference". LOL.. I don't really know yet if we will go to the whole conference, both Kev and I.. but I DO want to see Dr. Capone REALLY bad!!!!

A, I spoke with NDSC a few mins ago. She told me that Dr.Capone was going to do a 5hr PRE conference on Friday for 5hrs!!!! I am all over that! The workshops only 1 1/2 on Sat. So think the 60.00 would be money well spent. Throwing in air and around... I think we ALL are going...mabey a sitter.... and Rusty and I going to the PRE conference and going to American Adventure on Sat with kids.. since they love it there(or did last time). Sunday, we may head home. There are several hotels downtown... but all costy. We are thinking doing our usual area, near Emory... which is about 10-15mins drive north of down town.... May look for something near south this time. If our local support pays for the conference then there more money to play around with. I love to go to the aquarium... but not ready to fork over that kind of money yet. The zoo is always a nice outing.. my kids like it. Anyone else thinking and planning?

If you do the preconference workshop stuff on Friday but NOT the conference itself.. the fee for that Friday thing will not be $60 but I think she said 75$? It goes up a bit if you don't do the conference too. The $60 price for that Friday precon workshop is for those who are actually paying and going to the whole weekend conference too. So, if you only do the workshop... plan on paying a bit more.
We still haven't decided 100% WHAT we are doing....

You are talking about the NDSC conference right? I thought it was in Atlanta this summer. I went to the one in Kansas a long time ago. Jackie could tell you we saw them there. I was one of the speakers. I didn't do a very good job. I was so nervous. I have never been to Atlanta before. It sounds so expensive!

Yes, the NDSC conference is in Atlanta this year. Compaired to the prices of NDSS and their conferences they have, I like the prices of this one better! But yes, it can add up!

We are still in the planning stages and hopefully we are going. I just have a question.. I am familiar with the name Dr. Capone and have probably seen him at other conferences with NDSS, what exactly is his specialty or what will he be speaking on?? I don't want to miss anything!! I have never been to a NDSC conference and am really excited about this one being so close to me and WAY more affordable for my family. I have informed my husband about the conference, but cannot hit him up for the money yet because he just gave me money so 2 of my sons and I can take sign language class. Maybe in a few weeks.

The gal at NDSC said she is still pinning down just what topic Dr. Capone is going to be talking about in his 5 hr workshop... but the reason I want to see him is that he is just about one of the only docs that does studies on the dual DX (DS-Autism spectrum Disorder) and I really would love to see him!

Me too A!!!! I NEED to see Dr. Capone.....We are desperate! Nobody here thinks that DS and autism can occur together....and if it does, she should have been diagnosed when she was a toddler. UGGG I am waiting on my summer clinical schedule.....to find out if we can go for sure. I sure hope so!! We are going to call some in-laws to see about room and board in Atlanta. Just think, We might ACTUALLY get to meet all of you guys! After how many years??? I still think you all need to just make a trip to Shreveport.

Jenn... we might just have to make a trip to Shreveport LOL... or maybe you can I can just travel to Dr. Capone's office together instead! Unfortunately, due to some events here... Kevin now doesn't want to go to the conference He'd now rather do Pittsburgh. I am wondering if I can even go by myself and fly out there? Need a roommate? LOL.... I really wanted to go... but the man has spoken.... Jenn.. I am still amazed you are having such difficulting in finding someone who understands that Autism is seperate from DS but can BE together.. if that makes sense!!! And... you do NOT have to be DX'd as a toddler.. especially if you are dealing with THOSE people! LOL Hugs..... A.
