First... I don't know if any of you are zoo members at your local zoo, but I did check into reciprical privledges at the Louisville zoo and for us here, if we are STL zoo members we'd get in for FREE.. same with the Evansville zoo (because we pass through there).
The reason I bring this up is that for us to go to the Louisville zoo, we'd pay around $54 JUST to get into the zoo.. and our STL zoo memebership is $80... and then if we equate Evansville for our ride home as a possibility, we'd be looking at another $40. So, it would behoove my family to pay the $80 and get the STL zoo family membership (we use to have it and don't right now) so we could benefit from that zoo.. as well as the other zoos for free... would be cheaper in the long run. So, food for thought for all you guys. Since I would like to go to the zoo!
Also... I had an idea and wanted to see what you all thought. I mentioned going to a park that also had fishing.... Well, I also was looking online and called a pool/waterpark through the city of Clarksville IN and you can RENT out the place... the reason I mention this is because IF we have 6 or more families going like we say we do, we could rent the pool for 2 hours.. JUST us and it would only cost $30 a FAMILY approx.. AND for 3 hours it would be approx $35 a family. I know there is a waterpark that is part of the Holiday Inn we are staying in and I want to call and see if they rent it out also...
I just thought since we all love to swim and I think we have a few bdays around that time... it would be fun to do that instead of the park? Or maybe do both?

A~ The park....and ANYTHING else that has to do with water....sounds great to me!
We can take the zoo, or leave it. Last year, in Columbus....the zoo was nice but it was almost tooooo hot to really enjoy it. We chose to leave before we saw many of the animals cause we were just too hot!

Well, I have to say I am glad for the lack of replies LOL.. Seriously. I think a FREE park will do better for us here. We keep saving up and it's just going to be a bit better if we don't do extra costs like renting the pool out.
BUT... I know Susan mentioned the zoo and how hot it was last year. I still would like to TRY the zoo. I know it's open until 8pm on Friday so maybe later on in the day instead of smack dab in the middle of the day would be better... maybe an after lunch, afternoon kinda thing. Russell doesn't do much and can't handle to much indoor things so that is why I want to try to go to the zoo.

I'm getting really excited about the get together in just a few weeks!!! (less than 3????) Will we decide on what to do beforehand? Play it by ear after we get there? Any plans to find a park and do a picnic where we can eat and watch the kids play and eat and relax/talk and eat and...................well you get the idea?

Well, Susan, since only you and I are responding... it's maybe up to us? LMAO!
You know I have looked into parks.. I guess we need to just pick on. There are plenty on both sides of the river. I guess if we don't get too much response prior to that week of leaving, we could just play it by ear. I just know our family won't be partaking in the six flags stuff on Thurs if you all go. And my only thing is I still want to try for the zoo in the afternoon on Friday.
Other then that.. I say we swim our hearts content and enjoy the company and do whatever!

Ok then A! We'll be co-cruise directors then and can plan all sorts of stuff!!! Actually, the zoo is sounding pretty good and I'm hoping to get to Louisville and find that there are some sort of coupons cause I'd hate to pay over $50 for the zoo! We are sure leaning toward Six Flags since we didn't end up going to the one in New Orleans.

HEY!!! I just noticed that the zoo is open till 9pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays!! Sounds like we really could do this on Friday without being quite so hot! www.louisvillezoo.org/info/index.htm#summerIn case A hasn't already posted this info, here is the zoo website. Admission prices are increasing on July 1st.

9 pm... well then... that is cool.. but odd. It said they were open until 8 pm on that Friday... or the gal told me wrong.. I can't remember... so THAT is cool Susan! They are opening a NEW exhibit that Friday too or so I am told. I love zoo's in the evening...... like get there before the sun goes down and enjoy the end of the day type of thing... it's very neat! You sometimes don't see alot of animals though.. they are usually sleeping.. but we love it... we aren't sleeping LMAO! *** side note.. I just looked on the sight again and I see what I misuderstood. The gates are open until 8 but the park is open until 9.. that is where I got the misinformation! I am understanding now! A.

Ok guys, I was just at the hotel we are staying at last week....I think you all will enjoy the water park....It is not Holiday World which is wonderfull but it will be fun and relaxing!!! A place we can just sit and talk!!! The way it is looking right now I will probably not be there until Friday evening and will have to leave Sunday Morning as it is my FIL birthday and I think the kids really need to be with him on this day as he is getting older. Can't wait to see you all Connie

COOL CONNIE!
I did call the hotel today because I had to check on some things for our room. I also asked what time the water park was open and they said from 11-6, I think is what they said. But, beyond that, there will still be an indoor and outdoor pool there.
They also told me they don't have any microwaves to give me which I DESPERATELY need for Russell and his meals. Then after I played the disability "card" LOL, she said she will put a note and ask if they can find me one LMAO... we shall see. They can get me a fridge though which will help. I would HATE to have to pack up our small one or go without. They did say they will accomodate us and help me fix Russell's meals with the restaurant's micro if need be. So.. if anyone else needs a micro like I do.. good luck! But I think I was the only one that REALLY REALLY needed one last year.
I can't WAIT!!!!! 2 more weeks folks!
