Is it too early to start talking about a Labor Day get together?? For the past hmmmmm 4 years (??) we have done a get together over the Labor Day weekend......usually a more laid-back get together than the summer one...LOTS of fun and a great way to get to know each other better!!! (we do a picnic at a park, but usually no amusement parks, etc)
I'm eager to talk about this get together for several reasons. Where I work, I had to choose between being off on Thursday and Friday for the July get together OR be off on Friday for Labor day. (But of course, I want to attend BOTH get togethers!!) One of my co-workers REALLY wants to be off on Friday of the Labor day weekend cause she is going all the way to Cedar Point.....about 11 hrs from here. SO.....I'm saying, I am really hoping we can do a Labor day get together, and that we can do one within 6-7 hours from me cause I won't be able to leave home till 5pm or so on Fri night.
Dayton Ohio?? Cincinnati Ohio?? Santa Clause Land in Indiana??? Jellystone park in St. Louis???
Who is interested??

Susan,
We would love to do something like that. The Ohio and Indiana locations would be better for us. And, what is this about Santa Clause Land? Is this some type of Christmas mecca place I've never heard of??? I'll have to try and find it on-line.
Hope you hear a lot of responses and we can get something together.

Connie has mentioned the Santa Clause place to me a few times and I looked it up online before.........it looked great. It has a small water park, as well as amusement park rides and is less expensive than your average amusement park. On the other hand, I'm always happy to just hang out by the hotel pool and watch the kids swim........and also do a picnic outside at a nearby park. We did a get together in Dayton once or twice, but they tend to be a bit crowded because there is always this huge soccer tournament during that weekend. You've just got to come this year!!! Susan

There is also a place there called Lake Rudolph which is a campground like the Jellystone ones. For something to think about lodging wise. They have cabins or you can bring your own tent... saves on money a bit for those of us who would want to bring a tent. www.lakerudolph.comAlthough Robin probably won't be too happy. This place will be farther then she is going now with is to Louisville. She isn't going to be happy with the drive.

Thanks Donnita! I like the looks of that place!! Prices look pretty good too. They had a section on the website where you could check for directions.......it's about 4 hours from us, and that would be great! They have group discounts too. I think the campground A posted was very close to Holiday World. What about the Michiganders??

We are in as long as we can still get a campsite. Well, I guess we can stay at a hotel, however, the being the Christmas freak that I am, I feel compelled to stay at a campground called Lake Rudolph!! LOL

Hey A? You are SO good at websurfing......how about finding a place closer to Robin for Labor Day? (While keeping it close enough to the rest of us too??) Maybe by now, Dayton has forgotten all about that pesky soccer tournament???
So, is it safe to assume that we'll do a Labor Day get together....somewhere? YAHOO!!

Hey Susan, there is a cool farm about half-way between you and Robin in Central Indiana. There is plenty of room to camp, a kickball field, it's close to a river for great fishing, and it is free! But as it is under new management, it doesn't have a petting zoo yet, and no campsites have electric hookups (there is a generator).

Well... I do know that about 7 hours away from you in IN there is a Jellystone campsite.... I think I mentioned that to you last night....
Also... we COULD do Indianapolis? How far is that from you? They have a zoo and museum right there downtown....
let me see what I can come up with... I was searching earlier yesterday too... I will see what else I can come up with

Cincinnati is always a GREAT place for us!!! LOTS of hotels, a great water park, an amusement park WITH a water park inside, a zoo, an aquarium..................oops, I think I was the one who said the Labor day get together was supposed to be more laid back and no big activities, wasn't I?

Well, and I think there is camping too in Cincinnati LOL.... I realized later this evening that I don't know what I am doing talking about Labor Day. There is NO way we can go ... seriously. Louisville is the ONLY vacation we decided on doing and we almost didn't do any vacations like that at all. We are getting out house ready to sell next year so Labor Day will be out for us Unless we win the lottery! LOL A.
