www.uppersanduskychamber.com/fun.htmI have been doing a little research, and have found that there are LOTS of parks to choose from for our picnic on Saturday!! Check out this site. I wrote down phone numbers and info on several different parks and will check on a few things. (Like how far each one is from the hotel, what they have to offer, etc) I noticed that several of these parks mention they are "on the lake", etc.......and I think we might want to avoid those, because of a few wandering kiddos who shall remain nameless.....lol. Better stick with parks that have great playgrounds but NO water, right? If anyone sees an area at this site that looks good, please let me know! Susan

Ummmm....... Susan......... Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but....... Upper Sandusky isn't all that close to where our hotel is..... it's considerably south of where we'll be, about 50 miles away or about half way to Columbus, OH! First thing in the morning I'm heading over to AA to get one of their books for Ohio - maybe they'll even have something for right around the area we'll be in..... I'll post up on what I can find out, one way or the other!!! Barb

Barb thats just too FUNNY. Anyway when I talked to the hotel they said they are right down the road from the amusement park in fact on the same road. They said I would drive past it before getting to the hotel..
I am cleaning my house and packing all day lots of things to do before 6 am. It is about a 9 hr drive I am told UHhhh!
Can't wait to see you all.

ROFL Barb!! Wherever you go is ok with me, as long as we can find a good picnic location!!! Maybe the AA folks will know of one!!
I guess I just thought that Sandusky was like good old Cookeville TN!! There's no upper, middle or lower part.......and everything is within driving distance!! Thanks for your help Barb! Surely there is a place with a picnic shelter and playground equipment for the kids somewhere close to our hotel! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Just thought it would be easier if we knew the location before we left home so it could be posted. If we don't, we can leave that info at the hotel desk in case anyone wants to stop there and ask about the picnic.

OK Susan, Barb, Annette, Joyce,... fast...before I have to back out of this trip too for lack of no hotel room, tell me the name and location of this hotel so I can get a room. I know you said that if there wasnt rooms I should just stay at a different hotel but that would never work, I know you remember how Chase is not at the pool alot and spends lots of time in our room, that wouldnt work if our room was not there, but I am NOT going to panic....I just know there has to be a room at that hotel on a web site so if I have the location I can go search quick. This is what I get for puting off calling for a room! hugs, Robin

Robin, The direct number to the hotel is 419-626-6671. Remember there are 2 hotels together and they are separated only by the pools. There is a Holiday Inn, and a Holiday Inn Express. Ask for a room at EITHER one. Surely they will have one left!!! If not today, I'm sure they will have cancellations in the next day or so. If not, I can check out things from the hotel when I get there tomorrow. If you can come, we can find you a place to sleep!!! ~ Annette, It's about 9 hours for us too....not looking forward to THAT part of the trip, but can not wait to see you! (ok ok...and to hold Ashley!!) Susan

Okay guys, did some checking about picnic site possibilities. This one looks very promising, here's a link to it: www.eriemetroparks.comIf it doesn't come up for Osborne Park, just select that one. I called and talked to people at the park. They said that it is about a 15 to 20 minute ride from where we are staying. There is no open water for us to worry about! They don't have any shelters available BUT she did tell me about 2 areas that sound pretty darn good...... One is a group of picnic tables that are very near a playground AND restrooms. It is near a shelter that a graduation party will be going on. The other is at an ampitheater. There is a grill, a couple of picnic tables and restrooms aren't "too far away". One drawback is that the amphitheater seating is concrete step-like setup. We would have to walk a bit to this area from where we can park. One thing they did mention is that parking will be at a premium because they have a wedding, a birthday party, and the graduation party. So it sounds like we'd need to get there pretty early to park and stake out our territory!!! Since I'm planning on getting to the hotel mid afternoon, I'll try to take a run over there and check out both areas. I did ask if they could suggest any other parks that would suit us but they came up blank - seems almost every other park is along the lakeshore or some other body of water! Can't wait to really meet everybody!!! Barb

Barb~Thanks SO much for looking into the park details. You know what we need.....no lakes, ponds, pools, oceans, rivers, etc. Playground equipment is a must! Oh....and SHADE!! A covered shelter would be good in case it rains. I really appreciate it! The picnic is always so much fun!! (even when we buy enough chicken to feed hundreds of hungry folks!) Susan

Robin,
You are too funny. I remember the chicken day all too well. We even fed the people at the front desk of the hotel after we fed the kids a second time. Never saw so much chicken.
I made some cookies again, too.
I did not know you weren't coming until Saturday. Can't wait to see everyone again.
