Ok.....from what I've heard, we are DEFINITELY going to do the Labor Day get together. I'm excited about that, cause it's always a LOT of fun!!! We don't usually plan any big activities like an amusement park, etc but do have a picnic at a park and of course...the Ladie's night out! Mostly, we just hang out at the hotel and enjoy ALL the kids and let them play together.

On our way home from Sandusky, we checked out several hotels. Between northern Dayton and the south part of Dayton along I75, there were a number of hotels, but we found 2 that had large swimming pool areas for the kids to play in. We went inside and even felt the water in the indoor pool. I'm not opposed to having someone else find a hotel, and I don't think we have to select a Holiday Inn.......BUT the Holiday Inn priority points add up and eventually we'll have a free hotel stay, and usually their Holidomes are usually very kid friendly. That being said, I'll tell you about 2 of the Holiday Inns we found.
~
1. Toward the northern part of Dayton, there is a Holiday Inn on the Siebenthaler Rd exit. For September 3, 4, and 5 they have 13 rooms available, but NO rooms with 2 double beds. They have rooms with King sized beds for $99 per night and king SUITE rooms (king bed and tv in one room, sofa sleeper, sink, fridge, microwave in the living room) for $129. There is a fairly large indoor pool. (No outdoor pool) There is a buffet and also a menu at their restaurant and kids under 12 eat free with adults. This one was not really in a great location.......with strip clubs just down the road a bit.
2. Toward the Southern edge of Dayton (the Miamisburg exit) is a Holidome. It is the same one we stayed at the year before last. They have an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. We talked to the staff about the fact that the indoor pool was toooooooo cold the year before last, and they explained that when there are a lot of kids there......like during the soccer tournaments that were going on while we were there......so much water gets splashed out and they have to refill the pool and it makes the water a bit colder. However, we felt the water in the pool and it was really WARM! Other than cool pool water, I do think we were all fairly happy with that hotel 2 years ago, right? The rates for this hotel were $109 for rooms on the ground floor and $99 for rooms on the upper floor rooms. They also have king suites for $119. They have plenty of rooms right now.....so far, no word from those soccer folks. It was a pretty good location with a Chuck E. Cheese across the street and a park fairly close to the hotel too.
Both hotels gave me the number to contact the group sales department to ask about group rates, and both hotels said the liklihood of Entertainment Book rates would be very slim since it is a holiday weekend.
So.....what's the verdict? Should I call the group sales lady? Should I do some internet searching? Should someone else volunteer to find a hotel? No matter what, I'm really looking forward to this!!
