I know its been forever since I posted!!! Columbus sounds great to me There is a lot to do here....zoo, COSI, etc. What is great about the zoo, is right next door, there is Wyandot lake (a water park).....very convienent. Plenty of shopping....Easton, Polaris, etc I know there is more, I just can't think right now. About 45-1 hour from here (I think northeast) is the Velvet Ice cream factory...very cool. Let me know if you want me to coordinate anything, I can help!!!

Columbus if fine with us... we are easy over here... But after reading Suzi's post on the Message Board, Columbus sounds a bit BUSY!! YIKES! I'd copied her post from the Message Board, We need to really think about it before we go any further preparing the Columbus trip. I don't mind traffic and such, but don't know how everyone else will feel about it... read on..
********
"Susan~ I realise I may not be able to make Labor Day for that reason but let me warn you...The roads around Columbus are WAY nasty over LD ! We've sat in tollbooth lines coming back from there for 3hrs on a couple occasions.(No kidding, like turn the car off & picnic cause it's backed up)It's the major E-W bottleneck. "
*********
Well, what do you guys think?

I have never had an experience with such terrible traffic around Columbus or inside. May be there was an accident?

Thanks Alice!! I think my dh is hoping a little for a boy, but it if is another girl, that is fine too You know there are no toll roads in Columbus. I don't know of any near Columbus, are you sure it was Columbus, Ohio??? Traffic isn't too bad here unless there is an accident, but can happen anywhere.

I don't mind doing the LD trip in Columbus.....we have lived here since 1988. Of course, I also don't mind the idea of a hotel near King's Island either....I have had no vacation this year due to funding. anyway, either or, we plan to go. Just let us know when, where, and how. BTW...I have never seen a toll road here...only the PA turnpike.

There is a toll highway you have to take to get to Columbus I think, at least on the way to cedar Point I had to take the toll highway (is it called 80/90?) for most of the way and that is east so I am betting Suzi knows what she is talking about and the thought of sitting in a traffic jam for three hours is pretty horrifying......although now after reading Annie's post and all there is to do, I got pretty excited. I have also heard of Springhill Ohio where Donnita said she found a Holidome, Susan didnt we stay there once? That would be okay too. Lead me on. But just hurry up and decide least we not get a hotel. Susan maybe you should call Suzi ? Donnita did you hear from any one? hugs, Robin P.S. That is what it is called...the Ohio turnpike!!!!!! We all have to take that to get to columbus, terrible place to drive, LOL, it is where I got lost!

I would concern in what area you will book a hotel. As we live in Columbus for many years(12), I know that the safest areas to pick up for the hotels would be North, NE, NW (Dublin, Worthington, Westerville) from Columbus. It seems to me that East, West and South are not very good areas. Annie C, am I right?

Those are good areas. I hate to say the others are bad, though. You'll probably have a better selection of hotels in those areas I've lived on the north side all my life so that is all I know.....grew up in New Albany & now live in Westervillle. I'd be lost on the south or west side!!! lol Not that Columbus is that big!

I think no matter where we decide, Columbus is fine with us by the way ;D, it is going to be Holiday weekend and no matter where we decide we are bound to hit some major traffic Hey Robin how about you swing by here and we switch a couple of kids, Chase and Alyssa and Zach and Ashley maybe if we pair them up they will keep each other distracted

Annie,
Just had to respond to your post....we live literally minutes apart!!! I live in New Albany now....off Hamilton Rd by Meijer. I have also been only living here on the north East side for years since I moved here in 1988. Such a small world!!! I wish I had run into you before....who knows, maybe we have in passing and just didn't know it!!

I talked to Susan last night and she is really worried that we are going to end up losing out on hotel rooms either in dayton or columbus so what better way to decide then to do a vote? She is going to need to either cancel the rooms in dayton by the end of this week and get some in columbus or keep the ones in dayton and go with them. Here is what we discussed. Columbus has a water park for those who are interested although I know nothing more then that about it including price but it does sound like fun, there is also a few parks and I think they said a chuckie cheese and... it is closer to the eastern people so that it would make the drive easier for maria, Anette and CC if she too decides she has to meet us finally:D The dowside is it is an hour farther away for some but that is it. Dayton ...we have been there, we know it has some great parks and a chuckie cheese, the hotels are always great excpet the one time we had cold water and although that guy told Susan the water in the pool was cold because of the soccer kids, we think he may not be accurate as we remember when we got there the first night the water was already cold so it couldnt of been from the soccer kids, we think it was truely just a fluke and they had to refill the pool for some reason as it has never been cold except that time and those kids were not ther yet. The dowside, it has no water park and it is farther away from the eastern people. So lets do a vote, everyone post up and say which you would prefer and we go with the winner ok? Lets all choose by say Friday so Susan can get this done and settled by Monday as I think the group rate people arent in on weekends. Anyone who says they dont care, either or will be fine will just get put with the majority and in the event of a tie, we let Susan who has worked long and hard at this choose which place ok??? Is that okay with everyone?? She isnt feeling really well right now, (never fear, I think it is just her old age creeping in) so I hope she comes here and sees we have it all settled for her:D Okay.... please vote
