;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D okay she did MUCH better than I... LOL OMG we got there late of course.. eek. and when we got there Olivia waqs greeted and HUGGED by all these amazing counselors. Most are doctors and medical students and church people who volunteer their week for the camp. Then we find her counselor and go set up her bed. we find that each person has there OWN counselor which made Olivia very happy. Then since we were late they set her up food as we talked to her counselor about olivia. $ people were ooohhh ing and awwwwing and interested in just Olivia and she loved every minute of it. Then they go and a couple guys bring her a salad, watermelon and then a cheeseburger thats when she said BYE MOM BYE DAD...LOL the way to my girls heart. It looks like she is going to have a great time. I am so happy for her. I never heard of any camp that has 1 on 1 counselors. In their cabin they have 6 bunkbeds. 6 camper girls on the bottom bunks and their counselors on the top bunks. can you stand it? Olivia was excited they were going swimming then to do arts and crafts then to go learn their songs tonight at the campfire. She LOVES arts and craafts. They had a whole cabin setup just for that. And they r huggers. My girl was FREE to HUG. No constraints like we have here. She looked like she was gonna BUST at the seams.I'll tell ya lol there will be NO living with her when she gets back. LOL hopefully I am just kidding. (((HUGS))) Steff

Steff, I'm guessing this is the first of many AWESOME camp experiences for Liv!!! She is going to LOVE it! And they are going to love her!!!
It sound exactly like the one camp Emily has gone to for years............1 to 1 ratio of campers and counselors, and kids on bottom bunks and counselors on the top. (Sure makes it easier on the counselors if they have to race after a runner!)
PLEASE post up after she gets home. I'm sure she'll have a blast. Susan

Wow Steff, I could feel comfortable sending my little runner to a camp like that. They can hug there too. Just what John-John loves. How long is camp for? I just might have to go to California. Last time I was in CA was on my way back from Japan in '68. Pat

Hey Steff!!
Is this the same camp you mentioned in the other post? I was looking at the camp - had DH actually call them but it sounded a little "unorganized". PM me when you have time with more details - we were considering doing something like that for Ryan.
He is in a summer program right now, but most of the kids have lots of issues and don't interact much with Ryan so we are looking at our options maybe for next year.
Thanks!
Jodi

hey... well they were a bit disorganized with the registration but once we got there saw nothing but organization and wonderful happy hyper folks. I'll let you know when she gets back but she's still there so thats a HUGE PLUS!!!!! plus she got a scholarship and its something she could never do under any other circumstances. We'll start saving till next year if she loves it. (((HUGS))) Steff p.s. all the ppl there that run it have very demanding jobs and are doing this all voluntarily so I think its just tougher to get organized.

Steff...did you send a camera with her so the counselors can take pics of her? I wanna see them if you did... I think there is nothing more fun than summer camp. All four of our kids went ...as I did too when I was young. And...Ed and I worked together at Camp Cheley in Estes Park Colo before we got married. Em went for several years to our local girl scout camp and had a ball. She also went to Camp LeMar in Pennsylvania (loooooooooog plane ride from Texas!) which I have mixed feelings about...and then in HS went with the Young Life Group to their camp in Colorado which she absolutely loved. She has also gone several times to adult camp in the NM mountains. Jackie
