Never been to this hotel. I know where its at, though It is right off of 71. As for the area, it isn't terrible, but there are better. probably very comparable to holiday inn at Dayton. It is a little out of the way for the zoo....probably 1/2 hr to 40min. The layout of Columbus has been changing for the past 10 years & while that was the spot to be 10 years ago, it is kind of run down at this time. They are rebuilding though I'm not sure what prices you are looking at, but there are some hotles a little more northwest that are newer & closer to the stuff you'll be wanting to do. Residence Inn off of 270 & 23 (This is about 10 minutes from the zoo, 10 minutes from ChuckE Cheese) There are a slew of new restaurants, etc. Townsuites is another. My dh has worked in both, he says they are very nice & amenities are nice. www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=dspv&itty=new&from=m&shtl=1&htid=10792&htsd=EX012D528B9CJGDCyMfzUdfz$28$2A00$40$F3$AD05VFU.$0A$A7$0C$A0.$A7$0C&flag=m&cadu1=1&cAdt1=1&&zz=1090677400053&Here is a link for Residence, although it does look a t bit pricey. www.travelohotel.org/US-Ohio-Columbus-Sheraton-Suites-Hotel.htmHere is a link for Town suites. I don't know if these are the hotels you are interested in, but this is the area you are interested in. Hope this helps

I found another hotel source on line: it list all hotels in columbus, their "ratings" , description, location, etc... its: www.onetravelsource.com/city_guide/Columbus/Ohio seems like there are alot of nice reasonably priced hotels that are close to downtown, zoo, etc. And a few are located near the J.C. Penny's outlet...whoo hoooo!!! Dolly

To be perfectly honest girls, this is getting tiresome and some what annoying... sorry, but it just is..
I didn't realize we might do the zoo or a water park. I don't know if we'd be doing any extra curricular activities for our family, I thought we were just going to "hang out" like the previous years I have heard about.
Can we PLEASE just pick something...

Not sure if this will help clarify things or confuse everyone more, but I just wanted to make sure........I should cancel the block of rooms at the Holiday Inn in Dayton, right????

Adrienne,
I agree with you....I only posted that hotel site after it was mentioned that the one hotel wasn't in the greatest area...just thought people wanted to explore other options. Any place is fine with us....I'm just happy to be getting away from the house! Dolly

I've spent nearly 2 hours looking at all the hotels in the website Dolly listed....whew!! There are SO many to choose from, and it's next to impossible to select the "perfect" location/price/and amenities. My favorite hotel has always been the Holiday Inn (either the Holidome or Holiday Inn Express for their goooood breakfast). However, the Best Western looks very very good! It has a continental breakfast, an indoor AND outdoor pool!!! Although our family might be interested in a trip to the zoo, most times at the Labor Day get together we tend to just hang out and enjoy each other's company, and have a picnic. Since we do spend so much time at the pool, I think we should try to find a place with a BIG pool (there may be a LOT of us!!) and the photo of the indoor pool at the Best Western makes that pool look HUGE. I didn't check their group rates, but the "best rate" is about $59.99. The standard rate is $70, and that's quite a bit better than we usually find. ~ Remember that the Labor Day weekend is a big travel weekend and we're going to get into trouble if we don't pick a place pretty soon. Everyone....please help us decide, ok?

Okay I just read the posts, we have ben gone a couple days. I think we should just go with the Best Western, it is VERY REASONABLE, in the area the Columbus people suggested and while Annie said it isnt the best area, she did say it is okay and I think that is good enough. I agree with A also about how Labor Day has always been for just hanging out at the pools and visiting and talking and having a GREAT picnic!!! It seems the time just flies once we get there!!!! I think my family may also just hang out at the hotel as we want to make this an inexpensive weekend, of course with the exception of girls night out huggers, Robin PS we need to hurry though because it is Labor day weekend and we want to make sure we get enough rooms

Hey all;
Best Western sounds fine with me....the pool looks great. And thats all we plan on doing. (even me if I get the courage up to put on a swimsuit...with my thyroid so out of wack I've put on 25 lbs. on top of the other 25lbs. I needed to lose....) So my vote is for the Best Western...end of story!!LoL
