Hey Everyone I am new to the board! I have a 14 month old with DS, Vincent. We live in Austria, Europe, but I lived in the US for 10 years. I am actually Swedish :-) My little Prince Vicne was born with Translocation Trisomy 21;21. I would love to get in tuch with other parents with the same Translocation. Others too of course! We have a blog www.christinamolin.wordpress.comwhere you can see what we look like! I am looking forward to check back every now and then to exchange experiences! Also, I met a mom of a 3 week old baby with DS the other day. She is not doing too well, you know, like many of us had it in the beginning when we get that big shock. She is originally from Croatia, and I was wondering if there is anyone here who also is Croatian, as she would LOVE to get in touch with some one from her own background. Thanks in advance!

WELCOME TO UNOMAS!!!! We are glad to have you! I know a few parents whos children have Translocation DS 21:14 though. I think though on www.downsyn.com there is one or two parents there too that have 21:21...which I hear is more rare of a translocation then say attaching to 14. So you might want to also stop by Downsyn and introduce yourself there too. Just click on the forum link and you can get to it that way. Nonetheless...welcome to Unomas!!! A.

Welcome to Unomas! I can see I'm going to have to re-read the info on translocational Ds. My Stevie is 2 years old with regular old trisomy 21, but I'm pretty sure that there are at least 2 - and I think 3 here on uno who have kids with translocation Ds.
I look forward to reading your posts! Chris, too

Welcome to you and you magnificent little prince!!!! It is so nice to see so many new faces!!! I hope ou pass along the web site info to the new mom so we can meet her too. I still remember those early days, sighhhhh, they wer pretty horrifying to be totally honest. I had not a clue what the world had in store for me, I simply thought life had stopped. Ahhhh, but I was wrong, my Chaseman is better than peanut butter ice cream and I think that's about one of the best things in the world ;D LOL, all kidding aside...he is the rock that keeps me steady when the whole world is collapsing all around me, he is my sun, my moon and my stars. He rocks, plain and simple, he rocks! I regress, LOL, again, welcome to unomas! Hope to see you often and hear about the prince! hugs, Robin

Christin....our family is of Croatian ancestry. I'm not sure how much my FIL can still read in the native language, but we're involved with the fraternal lodge here & may be able to do something for your friend. Wish my hubby's Grandma was still alive as she was bilingual, but she unfortunately passed on 4yrs ago.

Hi Christin and welcome.
As you can see my name is Debbie. I am not a parent but an adult who has Down syndrome. I have the Mosaic Down syndrome. I have had this explained to me by a lady whom I have not seen in a long time now. She said that I have trisomy/Mosaic Down syndrome. I am much older than some I know and have met who have Down syndrome. I am forty six years old. I live with my parents here the United States. I have been posting on here for some time now. I don't the exact years but it has been a long while. I like to read what the parents post and try to encourage them as they travel on this ueven journey the are on.
I can write and read pretty well. Sometimes this confuses those who don't know me that well. I love to read and this has been a blessing of course since I want to know what is happening in the world but, it can be almost a curse too. I have many other attrabutes but also have my other problem area's. I can share with others about my experiences living and growing up with Down syndrome. I am someone who "lurks" on here but I do try to post on messages where I can add my experiences with someone.
Welcome and post when you can. Tell us what Austria is like. My neighbors across the street traveled through that area in Europe and of course stayed a few days there in Austria. Do you live in Vienna? I am sorry if I mis-spelled that word. I have read that Beethoven lived there. He is one of my favorite classical music composers. I believe Schubert lived there as well. Yes, I enjoy classical music.

Welcome to Uno Mas. Prince Vince is a beautiful little boy, and your photos are awesome.
I'm Char and my granddaughter, Abby, just turned two. She has Ds, and she is the apple of my eye.

Thanks everyone. Especially thanks to you Debbie, it is really cool that you are on the board too, it is such an encouragement to me and I am sure many others.
I live in Graz, about 2 hours south east of Vienna. But we go to Vienna and visit every once in a while. And yep, you are right about those composers :-)
I hope it was OK that I copied your text and put it on my webpage, I just loved it how you wrote back. I think that was one of the coolest things ever since I learned what it is like being part of the great DS community! Thanks again!
