hey everyone....
just checking in, and updating on us a little bit.
you may, or may not know...we're selling our house (no luck yet, grrrr) and bought a house in a district that i am hoping will be great for *both* kids.
meghan is entering first grade, and i registered her earlier this summer.
problem #1 we have a new director of pupil services (ie - special ed director) and she didnt START until august 20th!!!!
so i haven't heard from her, and have no clue where meghan will be placed - nor have i had a chance to ask for an aide, or to see what the class room make up will be, or what therapies she'll have. heck, i dont even know which school she'll be attending (although i'm assuming its the one farthest from the house, where all special ed students go b/c they have inclusion & self contained classes there)
i'm scared about just throwing MM to the lions and how she'll do without an aide -- being in a new situation, etc.
we were supposed to move in early august but things got delayed
my in-laws offered to have the upstairs painted for us as a house warming gift...very generous of them.
problem #2 they couldnt contact their painter to start early enough....he only started last week then screwed up the painting MAJORLY, didnt show up for a few days to finish in time, then had to go back and re-paint this thurs & fri because what they did looked like HELL
so hubby couldnt finish re-doing the floors until he was done, so he'll do that this weekend...and of course that has delayed us moving furniture into the bedrooms.
my grandma (who will be 97 in sept) lives with us...she couldnt decide if she wanted to come live w/ us (we'd convert the garage into an apt for her) or try assisted living. i felt bad asking her to make up her mind, for fear of feeling like she thought i was trying to get rid of her
i finally got the guts to talk to her (G-d forbid my brothers would try and help me out here) and we finally picked an assisted living place -- so i have to move her in next week. she's going in on a trial basis, which will make it easier for me while we settle in and unpack and all....
so now we'll be moving in labor day weekend - i'm bummed because i wanted the kids in earlier so they could adjust to the new surroundings and all...its bad enough all the changes that are going on w/out throwing meghan into a new bus & school situation and a new house with in a matter of days.
so next week we get to finish painting downstairs, install 3 rooms of laminate flooring, move in, move grandma in, all with 2 extremely bored kids who have been out of school for 3 weeks...come on down, lol!!!
i know, not the worst things happening in the grand scheme of things - but its enough for now!!!!!!
thanks for listening -- laurie
