Katie, my oldest daughter, and three of her friends are doing a 4 day Carnival crusie for not much at all in early January out of New Orleans....it was much cheaper for them to fly there cuz most have free SW tickets....
Now, Personally, I would not want to go on Carnival...but them I am not in my 30s anymore either...LOL.
I have been once on a 3 day cruise which I refer to as a Cattle Car cruise....it was just a bunch of people...mostly from right there in Fla who showed up at the last minute and got on for nothing....and no one really met anyone....and it really just went to a private island and Nassau which is NOT on my list of favorites. The private island was ok....but crowded and the beach wasnt much. This was on RC
Another cruise on Holland America was much nicer and a lot longer....but thats my cruise experience which isnt much. You can go to Cruise Critic.com and look up cruises and join message boards there to pick a good cruise. Its much wiser and safer for cruising to go thru a real live person to make sure you dont get stuck over the engines too.
also...MY two cents....if I cant go to Winsteads...
CHING CHING CHING....LOL

MB...LOL...must be my age....but I loved my balcony!!!!! Had no wind problems...spent much our cruise there.....but since we are going to meet each other...you are right...we will HAVE to be out of our rooms cuz they are too small to meet and greet in. I would love to spring Em to go if no one minds...LOL...I am really missing that girl....and she has decided for her 25th in May she wants to ditch the idea of a cruise and go back to Vegas cuz her Elton John shirt is now way to big....LOL Also dont give up on other options....we used Southwest Airlines HOTEL site for a quick driving get away spur of the moment two days in Santa Fe and got this for 89.00 a nite....probably our favorite hotel there....and all...and never had had it at this rate. I think we will use them now as our discount travel agent. www.buynewmexico.com/heritagehotels/plaza_real/flash_intro.html

I have done a cruise before.. that is why I suggested it! heehee... the 3 and 4 day ones ARE cheaper! AND... we did the inside room with 4 people. It is WAYYY cheaper tha way too!!!! It's bunk style, VERY small and WORTH the price to me! I LOVE all inclusion things.. like MB said, you DEFINATELY don't have to worry about FOOD AT ALL!!!! I LOVED IT! AND.. unless you need $$ for alcohol or shopping... you really don't NEED extra $$... or much at all.
Usually when there are 4 to a room, the 3rd and 4th person are cheaper.. so you can average it out and then split the costs equally! We can go to the carribean, bahama's or go from CA down to Mexico that way... what ever is cheap and HOPEFULLY the flights aren't bad either ... I sure hope I can do this!
Keep me posted!!!!! AND.. if we decided not to do the cruise.. I understand.. I will adapt to anything withing affordabiltiy reason....

After going to see the movie, "Shall We Dance?" and posting about the cruise, I started singing "At the Copa, Copa Cabana" (by Barry Manilow) and trying to do Latin steps. My husband came downstairs and said our son was upstairs telling him to get down here because there was a "booty alarm." I guess I was shakin my booty a little too much or there was too much booty to shake?

Katie just told me that they got their 4 day Carvnival cruise for around 300.00 apiece...two to a room...inside rooms....you know sometimes if the cruise is not full...they will bump you up to a porthole or something.

Ok MB...all for this.....how about Feb....4 day cruise....out of Galveston or New Orleans....we can use SWA tickets to get to those places....Fla is really pricey for us otherwise. I vote also for Royal Caribbean, or any other ship but Carnival.
I think 4 Days is best because it takes us to Mexico or someplace more fun than Nassau....I like time at sea...but ports can be fun too.
My daughter Marnie might want to go and share a cabin with Emily and me.

try it thru going to the four boxes on the left hand side of the site...type in the name of the ship and the dates...etc...
It was just an idea...and I picked the same time we went to Vegas last year.....
My thoughts on Galveston were that if Em came with me....she wouldnt have to travel to a strange airport to meet up with me....and fly out of one...she is already there....20 miles away...LOL and Houston Hobby is an easy airport.

just got this email from Katie my eldest....she used to be a meeting planner...and just took this trip last January.... Jackie The Splendour is the ship we cruised on... it's nice! www.galveston.com has cheap hotel sites - I recommend Commodore on the beach... free parking and free transportation to the pier. Best bet is to take a shuttle from Houston airports. I recommend that your group joins www.cruisecritic.com - they can ask all kinds of questions from experienced cruisers!

O.K. people let's get serious. Are we really thinking about a cruise. If so, let's get some options out there and vote. I like Jackie's idea of leaving from Galveston, but any port is o.k. with me.
I really do like the cruise idea because we can be a group but we are not dependent upon each other for anything except for those who want to share cabins.
No dinner reservations to make or entertainment to seek - it is all provided.
Other than that, are there any other concrete ideas. If Vegas is an opiton, let's seriously talk dates, hotels and possible entainment and restaurant options.
I do absolutely love, love, love the targe date of the first week in February.
Please chime in.
